has anyone picked up the RUF GTR 86' from the used dealer and had a go at tuning it, got it to about 500bhp but it oversteers worse than any other car i've driven in the game. Can anyone show me their setup.
cheers.

I had a yellowbird in gt4 spent days and went through about 3 cars trying to settle the thing down, trying different tunes posted online and etc nothing totally cured that car. Got it semi drivable but still was going to catch you out for even the tiniest mistake. Course i was tuning and testing it on nurmburg sooo heh.

People say some of the gt4 tunes translate to gt5 so you might try staring with one of those as a baseline and then tweak it.

Me i loathe rufs and porsches in general for their tail happy nature.

They're nothing like that in real life. The tail happiness is over-exaggerated in GT... while suspension work can make it "okay" it's really not a fun car to drive in-game as you spend 90% of the time holding back so it doesn't lose the rear. A GT3 in real life is one of the nicest cars to drive and doesn't feel anything like the Ruf RGT (GT3-based), the Yellowbird is the worst of the lot.

Probably is one of the most realistic cars!

See the beast on the ring for real!

Then learn how to drive for real first and after that try to master this beast on GT5!

900º wheel is for sure a requisite to try to control it!
I own a G25 and i'm loving this car!

Rear end toe in/camber should sort out some power over steer.

Also throttle modulation to keep turbo spinning but not at full power will help.

Actually I've seen toe-OUT help rear-heavy, tailhappy cars keep something resembling planted. Toe-in means it'll resist snapping sideways for longer but when it does snap it'll be more extreme.

1. Don't tune it(at least not too much), it already has as much power as the chassis can handle.

2. You don't have a hope in hell of driving it fast with a pad, I you have a wheel and pedals you're going to need to work the wheel hard to keep the car balanced and as abaxas said throttle control is key.

I have a BTR in GT5 but not gotten into tuning it yet.

Now my GT4 BTR's a different story.....that was my favorite 'Ring Toy. Hard as Hell to tune it right but I eventually got it driveable. If my PS2 were functional I could be more specific.....but generally I went pretty soft on the suspension all around but stiffer at the front - higher roll bar setting in the front - around 3.5 of front camber and 1.2 at the back and just a smidge of toe-in at the rear. Played around with the diff settings quite a bit as well but I can't recall anything specific at the moment.

Good luck.....if you can get it right it's a very, very rewarding car to hustle around any circuit.

I've only happen to come upon Yellow Bird in the Used Car section and I didn't wait to snatch it up. Although it's not exactly like the GTR, here's an idea of where my tune is. The car is VERY fun to drive (using a G27). You still have to be careful, but it's much easier to rotate around safely and let the tail hang out. I'm still trying to improve on it but the rear camber and toe settings helped a lot with control issues.

These yellowbirds are ridiculously fun to use! I've recently got one +1 on engine and +3 on weight + rigidity it drives like a dream! :) Wouldn't suggest tuneing it to much as mines feels unstable after putting on turbo! Thank god you can remove turbo anytime! whew.

My BTR is only at ~420hp (exhaust, computer).
This tune is by no means finished, but the car is much more drivable to me...
Stage 3 weight reduction
Full exhaust
6spd close ratio box.
LSD at 16/18/50
ride 0, 0
spring 6.9, 8.2
extension 4, 5
compression 6, 7
sway 6, 5
camber 1, 4
toe 0, 0.5
brakes 5, 3.

Good luck.

Just wait for a patch to sort out indiviual gear ratios. That should sort out most the power on over-steer.

This car really needs a longer 1/2/3 and shorted 4/5/6 (with custom box)
