One of the most criticized parts of GranTurismo2 (Other than the bugs and glitches) is that you can complete the game with relatively few cars. So my plan is to respect the rules (Racing the Convertible Car Cup with a convertible car, racing the Muscle Car Cup with a muscle car, ect.) and pass through the game.

BUT..

I will be going by my own rules too.

Rule 1: Obey the event car regulations.
Rule 2: All cars must be 500HP or less.
Rule 3: Only three total "Performed" cars allowed in my garage at one time.
Rule 4: Only one "Built for Racing" car allowed in my garage at one time.
Rule 5: The Escudo is forbidden. The Cultus may only be used at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, then sold afterward.
Rule 6: No Racing Slick Tires. Endurance Race; S.S. R5, Laguna Seca and Rome Circuit may be raced with Sports Tires as they are [R] races. All other endurance races raced in Simulation tires. All other races can be Normal/Sports Tires.
Rule 7: Only compete with [R] cars if the event has [R] cars in them.

Day 20

Earned a black Spoon S2000 from getting all gold on the B License and the Dodge Concept Car from all gold on the A License. I already own a good variety of Japanese cars, the Sunday, Clubman, and Station Wagon cups done. IB License acquired.

I'm starting to quickly realize that racing this way is quickly becoming time consuming as I have to buy more cars for certain races.

Great idea, pal! I'm really interested in following this diary, sounds like an even better idea than my no-race-mods-diary (still not looking forward to the Escudo race).

Good luck. Pupik tried to do this awhile back, and he apparently gave up somewhere in the GT Nationals if I remember correct. He was trying something even harder tho: GT2 with all sim tires. I tried using sim tires long ago for a Datsun 240ZG in the Trial Mountain Enduro. It was so frustrating, I eventually gave up. I like having some fun while I race. :)

You're gonna need slick tires in some of the highest races. Don't feel bad using them, it's been proven that the Ai runs on slicks for many, many races. Actually, follow the link below and it tells you exactly what tires the Ai uses.

That fellow (Sucahyo) basically took several good looks thru GT2's coding and programming via an emulator, GameShark, and other devices, so I'd consider it reliable.

I'm not having a lot of trouble with sports tires nearly at all. Still at 100% win ratio, but I really haven't moved up into the league where the real race cars are. The Dodge Concept car really holds its own, as well as the Lotus Europa.

Added a new rule too. "Rule 7: Only compete with [R] cars if the event has [R] cars in them.", this is so people don't think I'm taking the [R]GT40 in races such as "Pure Sports Car Cup" or "Grand Touring Car Trophy".

Parnelli Bone, thanks for the link too, but still, I want to obey my rules. Simulation tires through the whole game is nuts, trust me, I've tried that too. But I'm trying to keep the game "Real World", as in that there isn't only ice tires for cars. The Slick tires seem to move the game into an "Arcade" type feel, so Simulation, Normal and Sports feel more realistic.

To anyone who ever wanted to know, here's what a tiebreaker looks like.

Best part is that you're still declared the winner with no mark on your Win/Loss ratio. :D

Yup, totally agree. Another good one would be to use whatever car is truely appropriate. No Corvettes in the Station Wagon Series, for instance. Use a wagon. No Lotus Elise in the Luxuy Car Series. Use a 4-door sedan (doesn't necessarily have to be a luxury sedan, imo).

Um...ooookay!! It's your sanity, not mine! *tiptoes away*

Lol, that's what I've been doing. "Rule obeying". Racing old cars in the Historic Car Cup, convertable cars in the Convertable Car Cup, 80's cars in the 80's Car Cup, ect. Same goes for the GT League racing UK cars in the UK Cup, German cars in the German Cup, ect.

So far, the Nissan Skyline GT-R(R32,J) '89 has been my most used car. From the 80's Car Cup to all of the 4WD Cup. I'll post screen shots of any endurance I complete in time.

Rule 2 and Rule 5 will make it very hard. Rule 6 will make it impossible, especially the highlighted part . Good luck mate, you have my full respect for attempting this Impossible Mission .

That's awesome :dopey:. I got a tie once, but I got placed 1st, and instead of showing both race times, it only shows +0.000 for the 2nd place car.

Trail Mountain 30 Lap Endurance

A bit rough for my first endurance with Simulation Tires, but wasn't half bad once I got used to the car. 4WD is really what will make a difference in racing these races. The only advantage with Simulation Tires (If that didn't sound crazy enough) is that you make much, much longer runs. When I pit on lap 15, both tires were still greenish-yellow, making me wonder if I could of gone the whole race without a pit stop.

Going to start holding onto the rare cars I earned as I accidentally saved over my other profile... (The one that contained my 200MPH cars in this topic)

Whoops..

Apricot Hill 200KM Endurance

After Trail Mountain, I got really used to the car with the "Slip-n-Slide" tires. As the endurance races get faster, I find myself being slaughtered on the corners, but as my Skyline has 499HP, I was able to leave the cars behind on the straits. I only pit twice, lap 17 and 34.

Won a yellow Lancia Stratos which I'm really loving right now.

The next races will be the Seattle or Grand Valley Endurances.

Side Note:

Have any one of you ever raced the Toyota Prius? Try it. Oh, and don't bother upgrading it unless you just want tires. XD

Oh, and here's some eye candy.

Day 52

Updated Tire rule.

Rule 6: No Racing Slick Tires. Endurance Race; S.S. R5, Laguna Seca and Rome Circuit may be raced with Sports Tires as they are [R] races. All other endurance races raced in Simulation tires. All other races can be Normal/Sports Tires.

I updated this rule because the three races specified are raced with true racing cars. You wouldn't take race car out on the track with tires made of ice, would you? However, the other four endurance races are raced with production cars, so, Simulation Tires seems appropriate.

As side from that, I haven't yet gotten to the rally races and about half way into the GT League's first page and almost completely done with the Special Events.

On spare time I'm trying to get all the Golds for all the license tests. Why? Because I've done it two times before and I want my favorite cars back. XD

My current focus right now is getting the endurance races done and finding a suitable non-[R] car to tackle most of the Rally Races.

My current focus right now is...finding a suitable non-[R] car to tackle most of the Rally Races.

I cleaned up a lot of races with a used '98 Impreza WRX with vaguely 400-472 horsepower (depending on how much I could afford at the time). I never race-modded that car, but I liked it much more than the pure race-trimmed WRXs in the bumpy stuff.

I also liked my [R] '90 RX-7 (first day car), under 370 horses; overall, one of the most versatile cars in GT2. You could probably win rally races without the Racing Modification, the car was quite stable, even on dirt tires. However, I do not think it could win any GT-All Stars/GT500 races, except maybe Super Speedway (at least in my hands).

I'll see what I can do with it if I can find it. ^-^

Also, to anyone who wanted to see how I race, here the TVR Cerbera LM Edition I raced and slaughtered in on the Red Rock Valley race in the All Star Cup. Think you can beat it with the same car? >:]

Sorry for being inactive. With a job and school, I've been finding it very hard to find time to play. :|
