Rumor Patrol: The Elder Scrolls VI is in development

It seems as though Bethesda doesn't really give a 🤬 about building pre-release hype.

Rumors from Neurogadget have popped up yesterday that The Elder Scrolls VI is reportedly being in development with a 2019 release date. Obviously, Bethesda is keeping mum, but their silent approach is not too dissimilar to how they promoted Fallout 4, which is keeping silent until a big reveal a few months prior to release. It was this approach that got outlets such as Kotaku blacklisted from covering their games because they got a hold of internal materials and publishing them online. The fallout from this decision was both cheered and angered many throughout games media. [Note: I am on the side of Kotaku here because they were under no such NDA to not go public with the information.]

As for the title itself, there are just as vague as the release date itself. It appears that the new title will be The Elder Scrolls VI: Argonia, but that could be Deja vu, and dismissed just as quickly.

What are your thoughts about a new Elder Scrolls game?

There's just one small problem with that - when was the last time Bethesda made a disappointing game?
Umm. Never by my count. They use outdated engines, fair enough, but none of their games were disappointing. I would like to get a copy of Doom, to be honest.

Get it, instant classic as far as I'm concerned.

As for hype for an Elderscrolls game? Does it really need any more hype besides the fact that it's an Elderscrolls game and coming out? It's like GTA6, you know you'll get it.

I'm sure it is in development, they usually take several years working on one. I can't wait though, I play the heck out of these games.

I recently bought Elder Scrolls Online, and while it's not as good as oblivion or skyrim to me, I've been playing the 🤬 out of it. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. Hopefully they keep the main games single player though.

I never got the chance to play Oblivion or Skyrim. I hate spiders, and the idea of spiders that require more than a well-aimed size 11 heel to kill just does not sit well with me. But I just completed the quest "Those!" is Fallout 3, where you have to take out giant fire-breathing ants, and when I confronted the ant queen, I wasn't really bothered by it. And I usually go charging after radscorpions as soon as I see them because they cough up decent loot and a fair whack of experience points. So I might need to pick up a copy of the remastered Skyrim (probably when I get Final Fantasy XV), especially if Argonia is indeed in development. All of that might keep me entertained in anticipation of Fallout 5, if and when it happens.

Anyways. One of these two Mods should remove the spiders from the Xbox 1 version of Skyrim SE.
Thanks. Although I know that Bethesda have a habit of shutting you out of certain features if you use mods. It's just minor things like achievements, and it's perfectly understandable that they want to stop you from cheating, but when it comes to games like this, I am a completionist. I suppose I could just avoid any location home to spiders.

Don't know about Xbox 1 but you do lose trophies on the PS4. As for avoiding spiders. What's the word I'm looking for? Impossible. They are mostly in caves but as you level up you'll find them out in the open.

Well, radscorpions have a tendency to burst out in front of you and that doesn't bother me, so I may be able to get used to it.

You do if you use mods for Fallout 4 on the XONE.

I hate Fallout. :D
What's not to love about Fallout: Liam Neeson Has Been Taken?

The spiders really are horrific in Skyrim and there's one particular moment during the Dawnguard DLC within Darkfall cave that made me reload the game, multiple times I've had to pause the game and regroup while playing Special Edition which is my first experience of the Elder Scrolls series. If you like the sense of wonder and depth of a game world that you get from the Fallout games though then it's definitely worth trying in my opinion, it's a game that lends itself to multiple 100+ hour playthroughs.

I prefer the Fallout world simply because I hate the medieval fantasy genre (shame so many great games are set within it) but in many ways Skyrim feels much bigger and there's so many little towns and villages packed with interesting characters.

I'm a big fallout fan as well, but elder scrolls is where it's at. It took me awhile to get into oblivion, about 40-50 hours until I really got hooked. Skyrim is much more easy to get into. I mean, you can ride a freaking dragon, how cool is that. :)

Highly recommend anyone who loves the fallout games, to try skyrim.

Well then, I'll either skip it entirely or not play during the night ...

I hate spiders too, but never got creeped out by them when playing Skyrim. They're one of the easiest creature to kill and their size means they're easy to pick off with ranged weapons. I also don't recall them being all that prevalent either. đź‘Ť

They are truly disgusting @prisonermonkeys but it's not worth missing out on the game for.

Ranged attacks certainly help but I once had a Giant Frostbite Spider fly across a room at my face all 8 legs flailing, companions and conjurations help prevent you from being the focus of their attacks.

I got Serana as a follower quite early on. She's useful for that kind of distraction, especially if you have a good sneak level.

I hate the little blighters. They look like demons.

Besides, between finishing Fallout 3 and the upcoming releases of Final Fantasy XV, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Ghost Recon Wildlands and (eventually) Red Dead Redemption 2, my wish list (not to mention my hard drive) is already pretty full.

Yes but shooting them full if arrows is therapeutic. Using fire is good as well.

We'll see. Right now, I'm just finishing up Fallout 3. Curiously enough, my interest stopped almost as soon as I hit the level cap. Just got a few quests to complete, and I'm done.
