Running into a problem

OK, I know how the drift works, I can pull it off fine but 2 out 5 drifts I end up sideways an can not recover or go around to much because of too much trottle, does any one think that it could be the tires i use, I like meduim slick an full slick tires... but if i start to use less grippy tires should it slide more?

My experience has taught me that with less grippy tires your problems will be accentuated which makes you a better drifter. However, there is no risk in trying it out for yourself. Try some super slicks and then some sims... those are what most people use for exhibition drifts... on other tires the drift may be harder to extend. However i do not think that the problem lies within your tires, but within your driving skills. Try not pounding on the throttle but pressing ot tapping it when you are drifting... this will give a more controlled response.

i say to try driftin with the same type of tires all around instead of having grippier tires infront. i find the car acts a lil awkward with those setups.

Good point i did not realize that he was doing what you responded to. There are many other ways to induce a setup for oversteer than placing grippier tires in the front.

Nah, in real life it definetely pays to have strong sidewalls for drifting. It's hard to find a crappy tire with strong sidewall so most people use performance tires for drifting. That's why I mostly use Sports tires in GT3. I do agree though that it's best to have the same tires on all four wheels.

If u wanna learn to drift well, sticks with Sims. Then u can drift with anything.
I learn with anything other than Sims, and then transfer over to Sims for looong drifts ( The best), youll have trouble.

It helps to know the Angle threshold of the the car and the road. Meaning, once you turn into a corner, you have to know when exactly to start countersteering/accelerating. If you turn into a corner , and your angle is too sideways (Bad English), then youll spinout. Im not sure if this is what your doing, but this can also cause spinouts, which has nothing to do with to much gas.

All i can say is Practice Practice Practice. I sucked too, now i don't.
