Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO (PS4/XB1/PC) - Milestone

What i don't understand is there's so much contrast in the reviewers opinion about the physics (car feal). Some say the physics are the best part of the game and some say it's the worst part (wonky feeling and not constant).
Personally i think it's spot on with my TX wheel, the best rally physics i've ever played on console.

Just had a few hours and it feels 10x better than the demo. I did pants in Australia as I just kept sliding but I was fine on wet tarmac and snow. I know some people hate chase cam but I use it and the difference in feel from the demo is night and day.

The cars handle all differently but they let themselves control very nicely with the DS4. The only time when it becomes a bit "unstable" is after a very long straight and one has to brake before a corner. You really need to line up your car and be careful on the brakes. I have no aids on, drive automatic gears and use the dashboard cam to play. I find it's handling overal great. It's fun and feels like the physics are well simulated.

This game can be gorgeous in places but almost ugly in others. When I see the background in a Monaco track I have the impression it's made of 600 pixels. Also when watching the replays , the wheel sometimes float above the surface. Not a very pretty sight. It's no graphic powerhouse but overall it looks fine. However the atmosphere is very well done.

Would be nice if Milestone could step up their game fr SLR2 if that ever sees the daylight.

Today i was driving all the different Citroens in the Loeb experience and what i've noticed you can feel the difference between all these WRC cars. When i drove the C4 WRC you feel it has a longer wheel base and it's heavier than the Xsara WRC, just like Loeb explained in the video.

Just don't scroll through all the Citroens in the dealership or you'll quickly notice that there are radically differing 3D shapes between models that share a body shell. The Xsara Kit Car for example is cartoony compared to the Xsara WRCs. The Saxos also have 2 differing shapes even though they should all be the same. The greenhouse (roof/pillars/windows) gives it away--should be the same on all versions.

That's reviewers for you. It's why I don't really bother reading them, some have been proven to be susceptible to outside pressure.

So got the game on ps4...will be using a T300...Any suggestions on ffb settings? I played the demo with T300 but ffb felt way to strong...

And racing games is one of the genres where I'm rarely inclined to put any stock at all in mainstream reviews, unless it's obvious that it was written by a racing game fan with lots of experience with both sims and arcade racers.

When most reviews of racing games don't even bother to mention whether the reviewer was using a controller or a wheel it's pretty hard to take them seriously, even in cases where they may actually be fairly on point.

They are not supposed to be the same. The Xsara kit car is model year 2000 and the Xsara Rally cars are 2002 thru 2006 model years, the Saxos kit car is also a different year than the VTS S1600.

The basic shapes didn't change between years. Milestone was just lazy with the modeling consistency.

I bought the Escudo + Pikes Peak '88 DLC. Lot of fun - though for some reason it feels even longer than Nordschleife, at my beginner stage almost too excruciatingly long. But I guess it's the uphill climb and lower speed.

After trying some different settings playing demo , I've found 35 for ffb and 100 for vibration, a perfect setup for me. Gets me all the road / car information I need and doesn't get tiresome after harder stages.

Watched some iSR preview some time ago and guy use 100 on ffb (?). It must have been more like a workout in a gym than driving a car))).

For me the most trustful reviewers are TeamVVV and InsideSimRacing.

I've tried a couple of night rallies - one was borderline unplayable 90% of the time with near constant stuttering and framerate drops. The other had some points with sudden stuttering or drops that in one case put my line through the corner completely off so I slammed into a tree.

I'm guessing the headlights might cause problems for an unoptimized game engine on the PS4 (and I imagine the same issues could likely be on the XBox One as well).

Also are there no weather effects in this game (aside from already wet roads)? I seem to remember at least rain in Milestone's WRC games?

I'm not talking about fenders, flares, spoilers, anything below the beltline. I mean doors, roof and windows which were identical across all specifications. The Xsara Kit Car in-game looks like it has a chopped top like a hot rod compared to the Xsara WRC. The side windows on the 2 Saxo specifications in-game are different shapes and sizes, whereas in reality, the parts were identical.

Shots added. The difference in rooflines between the two Xsaras is quite apparent:

Because it did.... it was a different shape entirely...

I see what you mean, if they are supposed to be based on the same car, the windows and roof are totally different. Wonder if the two older models carried over from a previous Milestone game.

Edit, just looked at the Fiesta's the R2, R5 and Rally have very different window dimensions also.

Different spec, different dimensions...

Last thing I'll say on it so as not to clutter up the thread:
Specifications, drivetrains, widths (via flares and increased track) all change, but the basic bodyshell (the body-in-white) does not. That is part of the homologation process. The roof shell (and therefore the doors and windows) does not change from Xsara Kit Car to Xsara WRC or from Fiesta R2, R5, or WRC.
