I've gone through all the standard events & got to the S class events, & can't get anywhere with event S-1.

I have looked online & it seemed thet car to use was the Elise 111R Tuned. Then I found that this couldn't be used on the Euro version.

The problem is, most of the other cars in the contest are using the Elise / Elise 111R Tuned!

I can't get close with the cars I've used. I've tried the Ferrari 430 and a standard Elise tune up, but the cars just drive away from me on the straights (& in the corners...). :indiff:

Any help appreciated please :)

Thanks for the reply. I already tried this. According to a few people, it may be down to the latest GT5 update. The performance points in this race don't allow you to tune a car that will get anywhere near the competition.

As proof, I tried the next race (S-2 pp680 Fuji circuit), using the Ferrari 430, which maxed out is only 670 perf points.

I won the race by 5 seconds at the second attempt, & just to make sure, won it again the next race.

This makes me think there may be a mistake by PD in the update they just released?

Not really a mistake, its just that they can't change the offline game data, or they can but have forgotten to, so the offline game is effectively broken because of the radical changes in PP values and tyre performance.

S1 is pretty wasy with a Skyline Coupe tuned.

OK thanks for that I'll give it a go. I'm guessing you have the Japanese version though, which is different.

I tried loads of cars & can't get anywhere near on the straight even after changing the ratios. It also really bugs me that I'm up against Lotus Elise 111R Tuned cars when I can't use one myself!!!

Yes japanese version... no

I have the PAL disk so its the same as you...
Have fun in completing S class

I remember using one of the Lotus cars on S1 but like the OP says, the Lotus Tuned cars no longer fit under the PP. I tried the F430 and got 1st place first try on Standard Physics, 1st by lap 3. The Lotus cars came 3nd and 4th or something but the Opera 350Z RS broke away and the main car to catch. I exited the race back to the main menu and tried again, but the same thing happened with the 350Z RS breaking from the pack and took till the 4th lap to catch that time. I remember the Lotus always breaking away pre-update.

F430 used with stock gears and added - 0.5 toe and camber and upped the brake force a bit, lowered the back to -8. and weight reduced to minimum. Used PAL UK version.

Oh the Japanese version is exactly the same as the Europe and US version. We got spec II on March 28th when the euro was released with spec II.

Great call! Used this set up & won by 1/2 a second!! (a little close for comfort...).

I guess patience pays off too as I was only 13th at the end of the first lap.

Now I just have to complete the rest of them :)

Thanks again everyone!

Just thought I'd share, since I had real problems with S1 in Pro mode. Finally got a bronze (missed silver by 0.00x secs....sigh) after 2 hrs in the Evo 9 Tuned.

To tune for 650PP, set downforce to minimum, weight to max, then push your HP to the max allowable for 650PP (~4XXhp). This is a high speed track, so you need all the HP you can get to overtake, hence the need to sacrifice downforce and weight.

Next, set final gear ratio shorter to 4.8xx...can't remember exactly, but your top speed in 6th gear should be 270kph. Then make 6th longer to about 285kph. This will give you the acceleration you need in 1st-5th, and the top end in 6th to overtake.

I left suspension settings stock.

It takes patience, but if you do it right, you should catch up with the pack on the 3rd lap. Slipstream to the max, brake the bare minimum you need to. make the corner. Use racing lines and the corner speed guides for help.

Hi, I bought the F40 '92 before since I would need it for the S level.
Tweaked a bit (max power, min weight up to PP698, suspension lower, dampening more, gear ratios to get max acceleration without loss of top speed) just to try out my new options since I passed the A level. First goes, slipped out like crazy.
But within the 30' got gold on this first PP700 race on the high speed ring.
Very slow in corners, to avoid slipping, but very fast acceleration and super braking. Only used 2nd and 3rd gear in the end.
