Erik "on the roof" Carlsson pioneered left foot braking in rally driving to maintain high revs in his Saab 2 stroke as the engine lacked torque at low revs. Great sounding car I would love to drive in GT if the sound could be faithfully reproduced.

Ah yes Erik Carlsson, husband of fellow rally superstar Pat Moss and brother in law of the great Stirling Moss - it would be great to talk cars at the dinner table with those three!

That is a nice thought Dr P, but sadly no longer possible as Pat Moss passed away in 2008 after a battle with leukemia. If you are a fan of classic rally cars check out my thread titled Austin Healey 3000 works rally car - that includes a brief video clip featuring Erik Carlsson in his two stroke Saab and Pat Moss and Timo Makkinen in big Healey's.

Yes - this car definitely deserves a place in GT7 - its inclusion would be a fitting tribute to Erik Carlsson who I am sad to hear from @Aero2000 has passed.

I am not sure when the two stroke engine was phased out, but it was replaced by a V4 Ford unit. Carlsson's earliest Saab wins were achieved in the Saab 93 which was made from 1956 to 1960 and was succeeded by the 96. The 93 would probably be the best car to add to GT7 as it has an even richer motorsport history which includes finishing 12th overall at Le Mans in 1959 (2nd place in the GT750 class) driven by Sture Nottorp and Gunnar Bengtsson.

To stop the 2 stroke engine from seizing during descents, through under oiling it had a free wheel device - on another 2 stroke car which I saw recently with the same feature the freewheel was engaged by pulling a small handle on the dashboard.

Below the number 44 Saab at Le Mans in 1959 achieved 12th place overall while the number 44 car of Sydney Hurrell and Roy North retired.

I'm bumping this because I really do want more classic rally legends in GT7.
Being a 2-stroker, it is a plus.

Well from what my ears have fathomed in GT6's more recent cars, especially Senna's F3 car, the sound will be glorious.
