All fast lap submissions must come from AI started laps!

(aka Restart Laps, out laps, damn I screwed up! laps, etc.)
Replays must show the READY.. GO! at the beginning.

The concept is to remove the extra speed you get on a flying lap.
Theres nothing stopping you from using flying laps to make the Leaderboard
though, and, I'm sure you will.

Car: RUF RGT8

Note: please post your vids on or before noon, Saturday, July 4.
Many of you live in the UK, but wherever you are, try to post your video
by noon (your time) on Saturday.

Salar De Surire has observatories (in fact Chile does have a world class observatory,
built there because of the altitude, lack of ambient light, air quality, etc.)
In that spirit of human beings asking 'who ARE we?', here is a video showing
who Moto54 is. I'll be taking a short break from Driveclub after this contest is over,
but as usual, GTPlanet has proved itself to be the best place on the internet
for racing games and racing game people.

Moto54 hooning around in a parking lot then-

Wow, you practice what you preach!! Very impressive, I don't even have a push bike. I like my car though.

Yumm.. thats a nice vehicle. I used to value cars but now I'd frankly rather keep the cash.
A little bit of tint on those windows wouldnt go wrong.. are tinted windows common in England?
I know that the cops there are supposed to dislike even dark visors on motorcycle helmets!
I think they are generally only allowed at the rear, they like camera's to identify who was driving!! Have you tried the circuit yet? So far I've only got to a rank of 29 with a 43.990. Not worth posting a video for. I had a brief go with the GTR and very quickly got to 43.810, which is a WR for what it's worth but I am pretty sure 41 will be possible for you and Ozzy so I would say it's quicker than the RUF, doesn't handle as nice though!!

most certainly this will get lowered quite a bit, I had a few laps tonight for fun (sorry but I can't always restart from scratch, I hotlap better when I get in the 'zone' and do lap after lap) and I got #2 on the RGT-8 leaderboard about a tenth off in 42.6something so I am sure low 41s will be possible here considering I still have no clue how to do the last corner well consistently

I am exactly the same with that last corner, no idea, doesn't need much breaking and I tend to go wide but I notice when the AI line appears it suggests going narrow!! Well done, you should knock one two three off his perch then!!

thanks for the vote of confidence, I wonder if I'll be able to squeak the #1 before the fast folks here start posting laps :) the first corner is a lot of fun but so hard to get consistent, when you do though the next chicane is nearly a straight shot, very enjoyable little circuit (like pretty much all of the ones in DC, hats off to whomever did the track design)

It's a good course, the two 360 turns are the key. What kind of splits are you getting, my best are 10.6, 18.1,14.1 so I know I can make 42 something if I hold it together!

I like Salar in the RUF; the car fits the scale of the track well. Its a good match.
Using 'restart laps' and not flying laps puts the game in a different light though.
We all probably know the feeling of getting in a groove, seeing green splits,
and cranking out lap after lap. You could make a case that THATS what the
game wants you to do.

But does a racing game actually 'want' you to do something?

Well its us that does the driving, not the game. But games are designed to interact
with the user. They arent sterile, lifeless, neutral strings of code. An analogy
might be a hit song on the radio. A song is a success if it gets played over and over.
People who write songs know this of course, and thats what they set out to accomplish.
Its not farfetched to assume the same dynamic exists in Driveclub.

Its not an exact science. If it were, can you imagine? Song after song after song on
the radio we couldnt get out of our heads and were compelled to purchase. Tapping our
feet to the music as if we were helpless pawns of something greater, never to be
released from the clutches of listening to the radio ever again!!

You probably never realized just how close you were to an insane asylum, did you? :)

All I'm really saying is that its good to be aware of what the program is doing, while you play
a game. It should help you play it better, not worse. After such a long speech if
my replay submission for Salar sucks, I'm in big big trouble.
Thankfully for me I beat the Leaderboard WR.
And did it using a restart lap.

p.s. during my break from driveclub i'll be taking up songwriting. cheers.

Top stuff Moto numero uno, you can bow out for now with your head held high. I really wish you were online, be great to see you up the top of all these leaderboards fighting it out with Ozzy et all. Guess you are partying tomorrow so have a good one. See you back here soon!!!!

meh, I did 42.273 with a slow first sector time (10.942, duhhh, my fastest there was 10.6, even starting from the computer lap I usually do mid 10.7s) the other intermediates were 17.931 and 13.400 (I think I finally figured out the last corner) so it does look like 41.xxx is feasible for sure

(edit) last corner is just a slight lift when cresting (NO braking), turn in early and stay tight with the right guardrail, if you put back the power at the right time you end up close to the left guardrail but not touch it, pretty similar to the above

Well done!!! World record broken again!! And 10.9 is certainly no flying start. Your last leg is nearly 1 second faster than my quickest. With a 10.6 start you can easily get into high 41 territory. Let's hope Ozzy stays away!!! ( only joking Ozzy, come and show us how good you are). Try it with the GTR, I think it's a bit quicker than the RUF round this track. Great world record though!!

I got that high 41 by the way lol. Very high though mind you with a 13.6 3rd sector. I didn't have enough time to practice that last corner so i'll just go with what i have

Here it is!

Unbelievable, congrats Ozzy, you are the new KIe25, King of driveclub!! About time you took a few more of the One records methinks!!

given that I just did a 10.5 first part in one run and 13.3 last part in another I am sure mid/low 41s is definitely possible for you Ozzy, now would be nice being able to actually do all the fast sectors in the same run instead of messing up at least one out of 3 :)

Wow those are amazing splits. I have improved mine this morning thanks to your great tips. Now into the sub 43 second club having improved my pb by nearly 1 second this morning, next the sub 42 club!!!

Ozzy does it again. If you could manage it sometime-- would you post that replay
shown in the dash cam view? Not for me to learn from but just for my own
entertainment.. I'll dl it onto my laptop and save it. The fact you drove it at night
gave me a huge grin. Very verrrry good.

Ah there's a problem. It appears I didn't save the replay of that. Sorry!. But the fact I drove it at night I wasn't aware of when I entered the trial. So I just went with it lol
