Hmmm, a car that I haven't given much thought to in well over a year. I looked at my old garage, and it was still there, back in the days when almost all my cars had the exact same setup. I tweaked the suspension a little before racing, and gave it a spin at Red Rock Valley (hey, the game had only 200k credits).

Within a few corners, the car reminded me a lot of another GT2 favorite, the Trueno. Yes, the SR acted a lot like a hyper-up Trueno, drifting endlessly and sucking up corners easily and effortlessly.

The steering is rather vague at first (it's based on that 24-year old Fox/Fairmount platform!), but then you learn to trust it. So after a race or two, I have declared this to be quite a revelation...at least until I find the next one.

This car also is making me wonder about it's actual race history. I caught a glimpse of what looked like the SR Widebody in action on SpeedChannel a few months ago, but unfortunately, I wasn't flipping through the channels, my lady was (I was doing homework..SC/SV can be just another distraction). So I never quite figured out what the heck the real race car is, and I'm quite the race fan.

I know it must exist, because the car was right there on TV, and I know some cars like the GT-One and the GT40 were real, and some like the Altezza LM and del Sol LM are not. Net searches have come up with more GT2 info (mostly useless), so if you have an idea, post it here too.

Any other thoughts on the SR Widebody?

i really think it needs a new paint job.

you're right, it drifts great with suspension tweakage, but i can't pull it out of any turns at real speed. i got going relatively fast through the Deep Forest turn after the hill and just could not under-torque the rear wheels low enough to come out without spinning. i was, however, going digital, which my be the problem (i suck at analog steering).

It's a very stable car with semi-stock suspension. It needs only a little tweaking of the Toe (toe out actually) to handle great.

at first i couldnt even be bothered when i first bought it i raced it and thought NO i prefer the alfa 155 or the calibra but this has more power more speed and much more fun to drive although it is a bit eager at the corners and tends to fishtail

I don't like the neon yellow/white/dark grey paint scheme.

It has a good powerband and good tourque.

Drive it like you drive the GT-One and you'll win easily.

No, I don't like the paint scheme, either.

I followed closely behind another one yesterday; does the trunk area between the taillights have a "Home Improvement" logo (the TV program) on it?!? (Maybe someone using a PSX emulator can verify?)
