salt lake track

i knwo it was brought up in a previos thread, but there was only 1-2 reply's in regards to it.....so

what do you guys think, of there being a salt lake course?

this could be the best way to get the top speed of a car, maybe there could be a mode were you can set up your own cones and have to follow the course you lay out?

it might have its limitations, but it would be a nice extra.

And if you don't wash the car straight after the run the next time you go to the garage the car is a pile of rust.

or, maybe the hp is reduced from the salt in the engine somewhere??

Not reduced, but completely scrambled up.

With exception to sodium into valves that melts above 90C (in order to help in heat transferring), salt in engine is bad, bad, bad. 👎 👎 👎

I think it is a waste of time. There are many many many things that demands work right now.

That, btw, shall NEVER be compared to the thread where someone requested HORSES to be available in GT5.

It would be a good idea if they had the land speed record machines to drive there otherwise it would be just a top speed run for the normal cars and we already have the test track for that.

yea, but have you ever been on the final straight of the test track, got a flyer launch out of the corner, and not been able to absolutely finish the rev range the in the final gear??

well, if the answer is no, its happened to me a fare few times.....thanks for the input guys

how bout a dyno machine so you can see yer power an tourque bands?
I think test course is sufficient for high speed testing...

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean - if you crank the gear ratio all the way up to 25 there are a lot of cars that can't redline in the final gear. That's why I think that the Salt Lake Track could be a cool idea. 👍

a dyno is something i can see happening. and i agree the test course is more than enough to top out your car.

but my thoughts on the dyno. if you push the car too much, like with NOS, then maybe your engine should blow and youd have to repair it (hopefully GT5 will have damage, so that could be realsitic)

yea, that would be cool.....it would be a great way to settle ricers down to!!!

' awww, look at my 1000hp skyline!!!! im gonna dyno it it to see how cool it sounds (BANG!!!!) , this game sucks....'

lol....i have to much spare time.....

Brilliant idea about the dyno run with damage! ;)

It'll help keep people to less-rediculous tuning. But this would only be worth it if we had more 'options' for tuning, e.g. Having 'unique' engines where we choose the cc of the engine, what the engine block is made from, how many cylinders and whether its a turbo-tuned engine or not.

I GUARANTEE that making our own engines won't be in GT5 but it'll make the dyno run more interesting.

On topic: I requested Salt Lake in another thread and i think it's worth having that or a similar track (even if its a plain-ongoing one!) in GT5.

yea, the whole creating an engine, its a bit out of reach just yet.....but hopefully the dyno would be included.......and before the NFS critics come in.......dont worry, we'd hope that it'd be a worth while dyno, not some cruddy one like in underground 2..........not that ive ever played underground 2....or even own it?.......lol

i do like the dyno idea especially if you are buying a used car and you want to make sure the power is accurate

Actually it isn´t. The current land speed record in GT4 is 368.xx mph, and that would be quite alot more if the car didn´t have to turn. I´m all for a Salt Lake track. Would make wonderful photos too!

agreed.

how about the game not giving you the specs....and you have to buy the car and dyno it to get your power output.....so basically buying blind??

I think this would be a great feature. I can already visualize it.
Beautiful white sand, miles of space, huge dust clouds comming from behind the car.
Yeah, that would look awesome, especialy in GT5.

In regards to a dyno:
When you upgrade your car with a turbo or w/e, you don't have an exact power output when you buy the part (just a rough estimation), you'll have to find the output on a dyno.
