Is it just me or are the cars in fact not balanced? all i want to do is drive my Mclarens and but I end up using friggen Meganes!

Upon qualifying i spend a good 30 mins trying to do what i can, then when i check leader board im like 5 seconds off best quali time on leader boards, but if i were to swap cars to a Porsche GR.3 or a Renault Megane on the GR.4 races i can instantly knock 2 seconds off. rediculous.......

I really dont want to use Scirocco or Megane.... every race, are there any "super cars" that can compete with the said 2?

I'm actually really impressed by the Gr.3 balance (if you look at the leaderboards there's often 5 different manufacturers in the top 10). The 4C Gr.4 seems to be a lot faster than anything else, if there's a long straight however, the Megane doesn't have much competition.

I tried the Group 4 4C once and found it too slippery. In Group 4 the Scirocco seems to be once of the faster cars.

Yeah it's definitely harder to drive, but at the limit on certain tracks it seems to be much faster than other Gr.4's. I think right now it's 4C and Megane meta until someone discovers something new or we get a change.

Different cars are better on different tracks. I also like McLarens but they get smoked usually. I check the leader boards before I start and note the best 4 or 5 cars and drive the one I like best.

I've only ever driven the 4C once. It's been a while since I've driven the Megane but I imagine it could keep pace with the Scirocco.

Not possible. Even if the differences between cars were really small... thousands of thousands of people playing at the same time... trying to find the best car and the best lines...

Seeing only the top 10 times is gonna distort things.

Probabilly, the difference is actually smaller than we think it is, but everybody is trying to use the cars in the leaderboards and getting better at handling them.

For my experience, on a DR "D", the Megane is a monster, as we aren't the sharpest drivers of the game and people racing the Megane can miss all the apex and racing lines and still be faster than the rest of us. Well driven by a consistent low rated driver can be fast but I believe with the best racers the difference is marginal to other cars.

I'd like to think that too but when you can swap to one of these cars to run some qualifying laps and instantly smash your own time it kind of blows that theory out of the window.

So true. In my view I'll drive what I want not what Top 10 can. After all its highly unlikely I can run their pace so I won't be matched with them.

Theirs a real danger of herd mentality here which just excaberates the feeling of meta cars when in fact if compared across all tracks (not just the one that is flavour of the day etc) the differences are not so great.

There is a tendency in video game that "gaming the game" becomes more important than playing the game as it was designed to be...........each to their own of course but the important thing is to enjoy the game for what it is not beat it by any means in my view !

Top 10 times are usually 90% the same car and then there's that one or two odd cars that don't follow the meta. That should be information enough that it's very much possible to make wonders with most cars.

And it's really more about the tracks than the cars. Take Mount Panorama for instance where the downhill corners are key to a good lap time. Some cars (MR cars for instance) are not very good on this section, no matter how effective you are at counter-steering, trail braking etc. So you will put yourself at an disadvantage IF you cannot make up for the loss of speed in other sections. This is a hard task but many times it's quite possible.

Focus on 3-4 cars with different characteristics that you like and really try to master their respective driving style. In the end I'm sure you'll be competitive enough. You just have to focus and gather a lot of patience.

I think those test seasons are exactly that, test seasons. They need to be able to analyze changes, so they have to keep it at a number they can understand. If they allow setups, for example, it might even the cars, but it will probably hide some discrepancies. We can all complain, and that’s fine, but the one thing they should be focusing on is the FIA Cup. They can not screw that up. That means, they will screw up everything, in all possible ways, before getting it right.

I thought comments would come up "just have fun", but that would defeat the object of racing online. The aim is always to win.

Nevertheless, i came up with a solution to feel good racing a Megane rather than a Ferrari etc... spend 6 hours on the livery which i did last night, now i feel the need to use it because i spent so much time making it look pretty =p.

Ive found that 90% of the time I am actually faster in cars that are not the top 10 car.
I always try to use a few cars in free practice/qualifying before making a decision on the one that I am the most confident in.

In Gr.4, the race is usually dominated by Megane's, Scirroco's and the odd outlier in the pack... I guess the idea for this is to offset the FWD handling with serious acceleration, which to me... is too much compared to the RWD and AWD cars...

As for Gr.3, that's dominated by Porsche's and Beetles on the circuits, whilst the ovals are dominated by GTI VGT's...

Sports mode is getting to the point where you could just turn these races into one makes, because there are more than half the lobby/grid using the same vehicle each time... and they expect you to win races and get pole positions how exactly, if you're not driving the top vehicles?
