Judging from the trailer it could:
-be waterproof
-perform well in low light
-have a high speed camera
-take 'moving' photos (Scenery stays still, the fastest moving thing in the image moves)

But knowing Samsung it'll be none of those things and will, instead, be a huge phone with features that nobody will ever use. Oh, and it will have a really over-saturated screen filled with bright crap that Touchwhiz shoves in your face.

^ Hopefully Samsung has listened to it's customers this time! :)

Oh by the way, here's the livestream:

Apparently it has UHD recording.

Well, for the year and a half before the OS starts falling apart.

Basically except for an 1/10th of an inch bigger screen, upgraded camera, fingerprint sensor, faster processor by 0.6 GHz (64-bit or not?)(Also speed won't be noticeable in real life tests of course over time all phones get relatively slower with added updates and consumer's overload of apps.
Compared with my S4 for example.

This means I can now probably afford to look at getting an S4 in the near future, my Xperia X10i needs to die in peace.

Finally got rid of that dang menu button. I don't miss it at all on my Nexus 7, but my archaic Galaxy S2 has it.

Only issue with the newer S phones is the sizes.

Galaxy S1:122.4mmx64.2mmx9.9mm(WxHxD)
Galaxy S2:125.3mmx66.1mmx8.5mm(WxHxD)
Galaxy S3:136.6mmx70.6mmx8.6mm(WxHxD)
Galaxy S4:136.6mmx69.8mmx7.9mm(WxHxD)
I am guessing this is going to be the rough size of the new one.
Galaxy S5:137.2mmx69.7mmx8.1mm(WxHxD)

Each new version is getting closer to the orginal size of the Note 1 which was 146.9mmx83mmx9.7mm(WxHxD)

Another uninspiring design :( Come on, Samsung, you can do better than this.

A little underwhelming. Been waiting to see the s5 but may be going elsewhere now. The new xperia Z2 looks promising.

Fake leather like the note line. Its actually pretty nive on my wifes note 10.1 2014 edition.
Not nice enough to drive me to get the s5 tho.

The design of the Galaxy S phones is not that bad in terms of looks.

I would like to see the galaxy F

The design isn't much different than what the had a few years ago, in terms of overall aesthetics. Sure, Apple does this but the difference is they lead the market and have, in most opinions, vastly better industrial design. The iPhone looks solid and quality, this S5 just looks like more cheap plastics smacked together in a kind of "we're trying to be different, guys!!!!" was and it fails.

This is just Samsung's way of playing catch up on model numbers. Now that they're both on 5, they can grow together :).

I kinda like this new model. I don't have an S4 so for me this would be a whole heap of new features and hardware. I like the finger print scanner (although iPhone had it first), this is a very handy piece of hardware to replace using passwords for authentication. I do hate not having a menu button, after using one all these years (nearly 6 years with Android Devices) it'll be hard to not have one. That's one of my gripes with the iPhone/iPad, no menu keys.

Oh ya, to all that live in Canada, we won't be able to use the fingerprint scanner to purchase things (like using Google Wallet). Freakin Canadian laws are so tight, and some for no reason.

I thought I would too, but I got used to it fast and since I got my Nexus, I haven't looked back.

I do like Samsung phones, I've got the S4 and love it. The thing is there's bugger all difference between each generation. My girlfriend has the S3, it's pretty much exactly the same as mine apart from the shape. Which is only slightly different.

Upgrading seems so pointless. A finger print scanner? Whoop de :censored:ing do. How is that going to help me?
A better camera? I can take perfectly good photos on my current phone.

Yeah, you can keep your S5 Samsung. I will only get a new phone when mine goes down the swanny.

Nice guess. Anyway, here is the actual dimensions of the Galaxy S5. ;)

H: 142.0 x W: 72.5 x D: 8.1mm, 145g

From a design standpoint, I don't understand why the removed a universal menu button for a dedicated multi-tasking key, which was often mapped to double/long press on Home anyhow.

I mean, I guess I do with the intent to better highlight multi-tasking and tasking-switching, but forcing menu buttons into the GUI, and then having them move about between different GUIs, just seems like a step backwards.

I suppose that's true. I think that with Nexus's though is that when a menu key is needed for an older app that doesn't have it elsewhere, it is neatly placed to the right of the softkeys, thereby not decreasing screen real estate. However the downside to the S5 is since it uses physical buttons/capacitive keys off-screen there has to be a big menu button on-screen since there isn't one beneath it. That's why if I were to get a new phone I'd get a Nexus, iPhone, or S4.

I think I've asked this is another thread and didn't get an answer, but what is Touchwiz?
