I discovered this quite by accident yesterday, looking for something else entirely, and this link was one of those blurbs under the link I really wanted on the Google page.

Anyway, it seems that Samsung has had a promotion going on from April 24 to June 25 of this year, giving away 2 pairs of 3D glasses with the 3D TVs. Thing is, there was language in the promotion that didn't actually bind retailers to comply, so many purchasers, like me, had no clue, and got no glasses. The guys at Best Buy when I went back and asked had no clue what I was talking about.

I wasn't really worried about it at the time of purchase, as 3D wasn't why I got the TV. I got it because it was a gorgeous 1080p plasma display on sale 300 dollars off. But free? Why would I turn down free?

So: if you bought a Samsung 3D-capable TV between April 24 and June 25 and did not get free glasses, you can go to Samsung's fulfillment site here and apply. You must register within 90 days of your purchase. You need to scan your original receipt showing the model of the TV, the date, the retailer, etc. because the first thing you do on the site is upload the image of the receipt. If no free glasses or free 3D starter kit are on the receipt, you'll probably qualify. After registering, you'll get an email with a confirmation number, and it states you should allow 4 to 6 weeks. The glasses they're sending are about 50 bucks a pair, and you'll get two pairs.

I have no idea if this promotion was USA only, or international.

I got the new LG 3D tv, its It came with 10 free glasses much like the Samsung free 3d glasses promotion. *I am not in the market for a Samsung TV (just bought one a couple months back, not 3D though) but if I were I'd certainly appreciate your sharing this information.

Edited for relevance....

So as a service to fellow Samsung purchasers I point out how they can get their free glasses, and all anybody can talk about is which game does it better? Sheesh.

The thread is about retailers failing to honor Samsung's promotion, and Samsung stepping up and doing something about it.

I do not car one whit what any of you think about which game or program source or what is better than any other.

Find another thread for that crap, please!

I got the new LG 3D tv, its LED-LCD with a ridiculous contrast ratio 7million-1. It came with 10 free glasses. It is Passive 3D but I No ps3 game will run at 1080p in 3d mode anyway. So the 540p is acceptable for the few 3d games I have.

I'm assuming it's "dynamic" 7m:1?

Yeah I was going to say, no LED or LCD has a TRUE contrast ratio higher than Plasma TV's which are around 2 to 5 mil. Its just not possible as this point in time. 'Dynamic' is a slight marketing ploy to inflate the ratio figures because they know higher numbers attract more buyers. You have to get the static figure to get a better idea of performance.

Is this somehow related to wfooshee's post here? The only commonality I can see is both mention "3D". Other than that your post is totally irrelevant and completely off-topic.

I completely agree with you. I suspect that some (a lot?) of people around here don't bother to even read previous posts in a thread, they more or less skim the thread title and post whatever free-association thing comes to mind.

To get more or less back on topic, I am not in the market for a Samsung TV (just bought one a couple months back, not 3D though) but if I were I'd certainly appreciate your sharing this information.

He mentioned free 3d glasses, I mention free glasses. The TV I got comes with 4. The extra 10 are the bonus much like the Samsung promotion. I'd say there is a tiny bit of relevance. But thanks for singling me out Mr. Internet police officer. I will edit my original post to for you and the op.

It's still completely irrelevant. The post is not "Who got free glasses?" The post is "If you got screwed by your Samsung retailer, here's how to get what you should have gotten."

Other brands, what games, what consoles, what TVs, is all completely off-topic to the post.
