Sarthe 1 24 hour

I know there's probably already a thread on this somewhere, so excuse the laziness for not searching, but what is the best car to use for B-Spec in the Sarthe 1 24 hour race? Nothing i use seems to do anything!!!!!!!

There's a few La Sarthe 24 Hour write-ups in the Race Reports forum - mainly for A-spec - but the car you need must have a 220mph or better top speed and not too low to the ground (or Bob will crash it over the bumps).

However... Laziness is one thing which is NOT excused around here - along with asking a question without searching...

Yeah - what Famine said.

Pay particular attention to this thread for a whole range of cars people have used.

Since I did like 30+ Sarthes lol, I would like to recommend a GT-ONE or a Pescarolo.

There is a pool of 14 AI cars for this race. If all you want to do is guarantee a win, then simply use the Sauber Mercedes C 9, and keep resetting the AI field until you have a field of cars that does not include it (as it is the best AI car for this race). Set your B-spec driver instructions to #3 & Overtake. You should have no trouble winning the race even with low B-spec skill points and the 5 second per pit stop time penalty for not monitoring the race.

However, if you want an exciting close race, I suggest you look over the performance of the 14 AI cars in this race and then run some B-spec practice sessions with various cars in your garage. If you find a car and set-up with that can average 3'30" lap times on CdlSI with your current B-spec skill point level and doesn't have to pit for at least 8 laps you should be able to win most AI fields for this race while still having a very close competitive race.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

A fully moded and highly tunned Pesky V6 is good on tires and still makes 900+hp

As with the Sauber, that thing roasts tires like shrip on a barbie...

The Peskys, as with all four of the modern LMP1/LMP900 cars, are more forgiving in their handling characteristics compared to most of the Group C cars. The Group C cars also take a lot of getting used to and do require a more concentrated effort in order to get them to perform at their best.

However, the Sauber, as well as most of the Group C race cars, when properly driven, are so much faster that even though they may pit one or two more laps earlier then the modern LMP1/LMP900 cars on CdlSI, they more than make up for that with faster lap times. Thus the reason why they regularly beat the modern LM cars on any race that lasts longer than 30 minutes.

For instance, the stock Sauber beats the stock PS Pesky by nearly 11 laps and 13 laps ahead of the C Pesky (equivalent to ~45 minutes behind!), despite the fact that it pits eight more times than both the Peskys.

I'm currently running this Sarthe I 24hr. It's on B-Spec, and using the car that is certainly not something to be proud of (to be used on this race): The Formula GT.

But hey, I just wanted the Audi for tomorrow. :)

Formula GT is, IMO, a bad choice. Medium tires will wear down too quickly at 200+ MPH. I would've used any LMP1-class car and raised the suspension about 10-15mm.

the tires wear down fast and you have to pit every 5 laps on steady pace in b spec but hey it is a hell of alot faster than the other cars i used it and won by 9 laps ahead of the 787B :sly:

Whoops, my bad. I was defineatly thinking of the FGT on the Nurburgring 24h for some reason. Yeah the FGT on the Sarthe 24 Hours are good, but not the best.

No, you actually have a point there. At the race I finished late this afternoon, my B-Spec driver pits every 4 laps because of the RMs, which is pretty short. At the end of the race, it showed that the FGT pitted around twice as much compared to the other competitors. But thankfully, 14 laps ahead from the 2nd place car, an R92CP.

I use the R92CP regularly, and it's only real competition is the Sauber... still a winable race. Definately raise the ride 10 to 15...

I remember doing Sarthe II with my C9 with half the downforce and a rollcage. She ran well although my top speeds aren't that high I try to redline at the end of Mulsanne at 392kmh and still have the pickup at the apex of corners.

Edit: I never used the older Group C class cars in Sarthe I. I always used the LMP or the GT1 class cars.
