On Saturday 3rd December 2011 starting at 1300 GMT I plan on holding a three race festival of speed to the following format.

The cars;

Ferrari 458 Italia ‘09.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1(C6) ‘09.
Mercedes SLS AMG ‘10.
Ford GT ’06.
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 ’08.

All absolutely stock, running in/oil change/engine rebuild permitted.

Drivers to choose one car for all three races.

Tyres, Sports Hard.

The circuits;

Spa, 17 laps.

Suzuka, 19 laps.

Nurburgring Nordschleife, 7 laps.

I will open my room sometime between 12.50 and 12.59 and at 1300 will set autostart for 15 minutes, this will remain in place until the end.

Grid for the 1st race will be on qualifying time, subsequent grids will be reversed. Please remember chaps, if you’re quick enough to be at the back you’ve got a long time in which to win the race. Again.

Damage and penalties will be on high (some may need to have plenty of teddies ready to hurl out of their cots).

Fuel/tyre degradation will be on, draughting (or whatever it’s called) will be weak, track edge grip set to real.

All assists except ABS off.

For the sake of good competition and in the spirit of humanity, at my discretion, a driver who puts in a slow but honest performance may be allowed use of sports medium tyres.

Pit stops at the driver’s discretion.

If you would like to attend this event please be so good as to sign in, you may leave your car choice until after you have had time to test them.

I’m afraid that I cannot delay the start as I have a splendid seventies soirée to attend later.

TTFN, Zolon.

Sign-ins;

Zolon32, 458 Italia (not the quickest but soooooo much fun, and my excuse for not winning).

ACL_13.

Andy Macnab.

JimmyWizz GBRC (Grumpy British Racing Club).

Oldnail, GBRC.

Cobrius, GT '06.

Tox75, GBRC.

Nordschleife 24H circuit?

In my opinion there should be a strict rule for tires..... ideally....

I might join this. Will have to wait & see how my work schedule turns out, as I have to work every other weekend... Does penalties have to be ON? Kinda annoying when cars turn transparent, and I doubt anyone dares to actually cheat in a GTP event?

Hi fella, the circuit we will use will be the standard Nordschleife without the GP section.

I decided to add the tyre allowance section because I know that there are guys out there who give their best and bring exactly the right attitude to races, but simply don't have the speed to compete with even the midfield drivers.

I'd like to give them a hand and allow them to compete a bit further up the order, and I don't mind if it means that someone I would normally beat pips me to the post if it allows us to have a good scrap through the race.

Cheers, Z.

Andy, sorry, I wasn't deliberately ignoring your point, I've just got the attention span of a goldfish with special needs.

You do have a point, transparent cars do take the game away from realism a bit. However, there are arguments in favour of penalties. I find it quite good when a chap boots his motor sideways right in front of me and it allows me to take full advantage of his mistake instead of having to slow down to miss his out-of-control machine or worse, having it take me out when I try to get past.

Especially at Spa I think they are quite important. A huge amount of time can be gained by straightening Eau Rouge to a greater degree than penalties allow, and there were a number of examples of that during our recent race.

If the general consensus is against them I'll drop them for Suzuka and Nurburgring.

Cheers, Z.

I don't think that the tyre thing is going to be an issue to be honest. I think that there is a good chance that I'm the slowest here and the 458 is so much fun on sports hards I'll never change them.

Cheers, Z.

(Anyone who sees this as nothing but a cynical effort to keep this thread near the top of the list could have a point.)

This could be fun, count me in if it's still happening.
I'll be driving Ford GT ’06.

Yeah, it's definately going ahead Cobrius, and I'll look forward to having a good spread of cars with you choosing the GT.

Cheers, Z

I can now say for sure that I'll be attending the event on saturday. Turns out I don't have to work on weekends, which is pretty damn fair as I have to work 37 hours a week for no pay!!! Haven't decided on a car yet, and probably won't have time for testing until late friday/early saturday. Looking forward to racing with you all.

Chaps, after some testing on Nurburgring I have concluded that hard damage would quite probably cause the field to become somewhat split. Just one slip, which is easily done when racing fast cars wearing slippy tyres on what amounts to a cycle path up a mountain, could ruin a fella's race.

I hereby decree that damage will be set to light.

Cheers, Z.

And please don't forget chaps, it's in the afternoon, not the evening.

im up for these i think :)

edit: ive just remembered i have to go to Luton on sat to help strip our race car down so i cant join in :(

Great racing guys, very clean and fair. Sorry I was absolutely rubbish on the Nurb, I'm not very comfortable there so I thoght it was just as well to stay in the pits. Don't know if you noticed I was driving without ABS,(trying to learn) It really adds another dimension to the game (for me anyway), but on Nurb it was very difficult, maybe because it's very bumpy and uneven on that track.

A brave move Cobrius, I'm not surprised that you found it difficult on the Nurb. I like no ABS when there's plenty of grip to give good feedback to warn of impending locking, but I find it impossible with the lower spec tyres which I generally like racing on.

Thanks to you and Andy for turning out, I'll let you both know when I'm running a Shottle session (like shuffle, but different) and I hope you'll be able to join us.

Cheers, Z.
