Looks nice. I was looking at this game in the store a couple of weeks ago but decided to not to buy it. Which other recent SBK game are worth trying out?

ive tried all of them .. ( except for the 2012 ) so far the 08 is far better ...
a few glitches here and there but the playability, bike physics, sounds are better..even the umbrella girls are thicker:sly:

Looking at the video below it does stand out gameplay wise as the better one. I'm just wondering whether it's possible to change the controller settings? There also seems to be some decent powersliding. And it's still online, you say? Might pick it up once I've got my tax refund.

yeah ....
Tax Refunds.. :)

the controller settings are changable ..
chek your options or settings..

( coooooL vid.. ) ... im using the onboard view as my default..
gets kinda scary.. powersliding and bike wiggles at 180mph:scared::nervous:
yeah still online.. NO ONE is on every time i chek

they ( polyphony .. makers of tourist trophy.. and TTrophy 2 💡) LOL....
should make the crash sequences at least 10 to 15 seconds long ..
with the ability to slow down the crash...
as you watch the bike/rider flip and flop with ragdoll (skate 2 ) physics.. yeeeeaaahh

Currently I own

Tourist Trophy
MotoGP 4
MotoGP 07 (PS2)
MotoGP 08 (PS2 & PS3)
MotoGP 10/11
SBK 08
SBK 2011
SBK Generations

and I totally agree that SBK 08 is the best game of them all. We have been talking a lot about SBK 08 and other motorcycle racers here as well:

Oh yeah and another thing: the game is still online but there are no players online. Just so nobody gets the wrong idea. 👍

MotoGP 08 is the best and most fun casual racer, SBK 08 is the best simulation and SBK Generations is a really good middle-of-the-roader.

Ok I will then. :)
But we don't really have the timezone in common. It'll be like Space Marine DLC maps and modes: I start searchchecking for a dlc game every time but I never find anything, those days are long gone, but I keep checking, clinging to hope... just in case. :guilty:

Wow it looks really cool. Is it a nice drive compared to other bike games? How is the handling? Will the game brake the bike for you (autobrake)?? This guy says it doesn't if you don't want to http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/919230-suzuki-tt-superbikes/reviews/review-99808.

I just don't feel that I have full control of the motorcycle :/

....practice with shifting rider weight forward going into corners..
and shift back coming out.. ( it helps with the turn radius )

it will make a difference :)

 But that's the other way around. One would normally get up to increase aerodynamic resistance during braking. I'm not sure which game he was referring to here, in TT Superbikes I couldn't really notice any difference at all on speed/drag by shifting weight. So in that game it might work I guess...

I tried out TT Superbikes and it can probably be fun but I wouldn't praise it for superb simulation. It was probably great back then I guess. However I really liked how powerful the 1000cc bike felt at the start where you have to lean forward and it will still get the front wheel airborne :)

NO..
the shifting of weight is different than raising your head/body up for aerodynamics...
i was referring to shifting your center of gravity..
moving your body forward shortens the turn radius..
making for quik entry and exit thru corners..

this is from TTrophy not shure if it will work on suzuki superbikes..

How would you do that in a game though? When forward means leaning down and backwards means rising up. There is no way to move in the saddle that I know of...

That's one of the many reasons that we will not see a realistic bike game, there are too many things that you can do with your body for a game to incorporate.

But it would be possible to incoroporate more complex weight transfer through having up, down, left, right on left stick and body transfer on the right stick.

Thing is, there is just too much for a game to handle, you'd have to have several sticks on a controller. Off of the top of my head you would need:
PS3 L2R2/Xbox trigger style buttons for the
Gas
Front Brake
Rear Brake
Clutch
You'd need an analog stick for where your butt is on the seat.
You'd need some sort of trigger system for left/right bar pressure, same for the pegs.
And also a stick for how far you are actually leaning off of the bike.
And a stick for the steering, and the shifter would need buttons as well.

So in short, there is WAY too much stuff going on, games to an ok job of faking their way past it, but that stuff that I just said is why there won't be an accurate bike game.

OK ok ..

button configuration is what seems to be the mystery..

( Tourist Trophy ) setting
x button -- gas pedal
square -- tuck position ( rider head and body ..up and down )

left stick up ( shifts rider position forward )
left stick down ( shifts rider position back ) hint..( causes yu to pop a wheelie )
left stick up ( left or right ) shifts rider weight into respective corner

if you do a couple of laps ( TTrophy ) move the rider forward and back.. and then watch the replay... you will see the rider actually sliding or moving back and forth on the seat

my setting allows me to control the head and body movement indepently to the shifting of weight..
it really makes for some competitive time trials once you get the hang of it..

Seat position is not the same thing as body position.

To model both things you would need at least 2 sticks, and then your steering control is gone.

what?
the seat doesnt move..
you can move your body on the seat you dont need two sticks.....
maybe TTrophy 2 will allow you to move the seat..

?
You would need two sticks, one to control where your butt is on the seat, and one to control the riders body.

Define steering control then. What I'm saying is that it should be quite possible to have all of it.

Steering would be the actual control for turning the bars.
But seat position would need a different control, same with boy position.
And bar, peg, tank etc pressure....

Ok sure we can't implement all that but we COULD be having body transfer on the saddle on the right stick and keeping steering & body up and down on the left stick. RIGHT? Are you with me on that? And if we had that and the rest of the feel of the game is done right - as it has been done before, just that all the right features are now spread across titles and no one game got them all right - we would have one helluva game that would be awesome and it would feel like riding a bike. At least as good as the feeling of driving a real car in a carsimulation game.

I agree with you that it could be made to work that way,(Although you couldn't call it a sim because well, I don't know if you ride, but if you do then you know about the infinite amount of things that you can do with your body.)

But if they did make it like you said, and put the gas and brake on triggers, then that would make for one helluva hard game. Which is perfect for a motorcycle game because riding a bike is WAY harder than driving a car.

*Now my brain hurts trying to play this game in my head.*

LOL yeah and it would be only for the very small hardcore crew of gamers that love racing motorcycles. Everybody else would hate on it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking aswell, and for that very reason is why I don't think that there will be a game like that.
The target demographic would be so small it wouldn't be profitable.

Even if they made it a semi-sim it would be very difficult, all I want to see is the front end tuck when you grab a handful of brake when your knee's on the ground.
