I am anxiously awaiting Need for Speed and it just so happens the day I get the game on November 3rd is when I have a project do for a class I am in at college. It sucks because as my professor was deciding the due date, it was originally November 10th and I figured I would have some time to enjoy the game.

This is not the only time this has happened to me, every time a game I have been anxiously waiting for release in the past, a big school assignment is due either a week or two before making the wait even more stressful as I have something to do instead of wasting my time doing something enjoyable besides schoolwork. When a major project or paper is due as the saying time flys when your having fun does not apply in this case making the wait feel longer. Honestly I think it may be just all coincidence but still it makes the wait feel longer

The release of Need for Speed is even more bizarre as the professor changed the date in class as I was talking with a friend who is also anxiously waiting for the game. We joked the professor heard us as the due date was changed to the exact date the game is supposed to release.

Anyone else have similar occurrences happen such with their school or job coinciding with a big game release?

Not here. I tried not to let real life be superseded by video games.

I think you might be a bit paranoid. Certainly game releases are strategically planned whenever possible but I don't think they do it to mess with your homework.

Of course it does not mess with my schoolwork. Its just makes waiting for the game that much longer. Although it is a great motivator to finish the project quicker. But still its frustrating.

Honestly, if you got to distracted and focused more on getting the game and playing it over School work than that is your problem with your priority's.

It is hard, last month, I had to put most of my Super Mario Maker playing on hold because it came out half-way in between the exams.

As for them being strategically placed, I doubt it. The Christmas Rush for games is coming where pretty much every game is being released every weekend, so their it is just pure coincidence when a Assignment due date is chosen.

To me, I don't mind. I can get a game in any day I want to, or even wait for someone to give it to me as a birthday or Christmas gift, hehe. :sly:

It's not that it's a limited release, right? I don't care if there are pre-order bonuses or other incentives coupled with getting such game early.

Just relax. Focus on more important priorities in life. Simple as that. Heck, I experienced exams and even group meetings on the days when my favorite games were released. Was each of them a big deal? NO.

There is one word to sum up - COINCIDENCE.

And changing the due date of a task has a whole procedure behind it - it can't just be done on a whim.

I totally agree.

Tinfoil hat is a bit large here, dude.

In all of my years of gaming, this has never crossed my mind, not even when I was younger. I guess I was never one to receive games right on their release dates.

I might get hyped for a game or something, but video games are pretty far down my priority list, so I never really cared that much.

Besides, with the amount of games lying around, waiting to get finished, I've got enough to play to not get bored while waiting.

When I was in school, what annoyed me far more than any assignment being due at the same time as something extracurricular was when it was due at the same time as something curricular. Sure, if a big assignment prevented me from doing or getting something I wanted for a bit it might be a nuisance, but it was far worse when it seemed like my teachers had had a staff meeting where they decided to make all of my big projects due on the same day or week. Of course there are obvious reasons this happens, but sometimes it got bad enough that I really wondered if the teachers did it deliberately.

All just coincidence. When it rains, it pours. Etc.

We don't. All assignment due dates - and if not the exact date, then certainly the week - are usually set at the start of the year. And when you've got eight or nine faculties setting half a dozen assessment tasks for each of the six year groups (not to mention some who have to do it for multiple subject areas within their own faculty), cross-over is inevitable.

How kind of schools stopping students becoming beta testers and letting them only play games when they are more at a complete state. :sly:

Oh, I know. It just seemed like it sometimes.

(I was a teenager at the time, mind you :P)

Well good news for me at least along with other Xbox players. I get to enjoy the game early and plan on getting a month of EA access to enjoy the game on the 29th. I get to enjoy the game for a couple of days before my assignment is due. its one of those assignments I cant finish last minute anyways lol.

The physical copy should come on the 3rd as usual though.
