Well are they? Do you think Scion is any good? Toyota wants to appeal to a younger market, yet is this to far. Personally i'm hung over the idea:irked: . Think it will be a competitor to it's rivals? only time will tell.;)

Scion will have no trouble, especially in the areas Toyota will be initially marketing it to, which is southern California and south Florida.

What companies like Toyota and Dodge don't understand, though, is that half the fun for the tuner crowd is modifying a car, not buying one modified. Don't expect Scion to be anything other than bulky, practical, and subtle. Certainly not fast.

M5Power, Dodge understands the fun of the tuner market and left plenty of room for personalizing and customizing in their SRT4. The interioir they left pretty plain so your not paying for something you might replace anyway. There area also going to be loads of ad-ons for it. I own one and saw some APC parts for it on a catalog (though not due yet). Also to let you know that the Dodge Stratus is one of the top 5 tuner cars in the US (from 'Tomorrow's Technician Magazine')...

I don't think they're gambling. The "hot import" market really is hot right now. Anything that looks different is ambushed, kidnapped, and put on display at every import tuner show. The Scion line is cheap, modular (it looks like a Lego car), and Toyota. Honestly, they really can't go wrong...as much as I loathe the whole thing.

There is NO WAY I'm driving that crap. They won't sell squat around here.

As another midwestern resident, I must say I agree. They'll make most of their sales in California.

some assclown down here in Carbondale has one. he is a gey sausage, drives around bumping his base heavy music on the stock stereo. super, super gey!

I just went at the LA auto show, and I observed the two Scions, they're not bad at all, in fact I like the Scion xB than the Toyota's own Echo (Platz in Japan), but its not as practical as the Element (the best of the show).

Yes, they are gambling too much with thier Scion brand, its not like the breakthrough perfectionist Lexus. If these Scions have the prices like Hyundai's, then Toyota will suceed, but if its on par with the corolla, then its a diffrent story.

Beautiful. Simple. Block. Element.

 My friend wanted to get one of those Honda Elements, when he could easily afford an '02 Porsche Boxster.

I know that kind of styling has become fairly popular in the subcompact market over in Japan since it maximizes passenger space, but... no. I look at those, and they just scream "baby minivan" to me.

The Element is particularly hideous in my opinion. I loathe plastic body cladding on cars; it's almost always tacky looking, and expensive as hell to get replaced (you don't repair plastic parts), and that thing looks like it's more plastic than metal!

I love the Xb... if I had the means, I would defintely get one as a second toy car. It looks slammed, and just check out the low profile tires. It uses the Corolla's 1.8L 130hp engine right? So the Celica GT-S's 1.8L 180hp engine should fit right in.:mischievous:
