Hi there,
when playing GT5P, I am noticing a couple of problems, one of them being so severe it is stopping me playing Prologue.

I'll start with the not so bad one first - during a race I notice that when there are a few cars on the screen the game becomes very jerky, to the point where it distracts you whilst playing and can muck up your racing.

The second is the worst one - occasionally whilst playing, the screen just blacks out, my TV looses signal like. It usually happens in the same part of the track (on multible tracks) but sometimes it happens randomly. The game is still going on, and sound is still coming out through my amp, but no picture. It returns in about 3 to 4 seconds, which, obviously, completely ruins your race.

My setup is as follows: 60Gb PS3 => HDMI ver 1.3 Cable => Yamaha RX-V563 Amp => HDMI ver 1.3 Cable => Samsung Series 6 40" LCD TV.

This problem never occurs whilst playing anything else on my PS3, be it another game or a Blu-Ray.

Has anyone else got these issues? I'm thinking the first issue is reasonably common, but I'm worried that it is worse than others, and maybe my PS3 is faulty. I'm also concerned maybe my HDMI cables aren't up to the task as they were not expensive ones.

Any help would be MUCH appriciated :)

was it during online or offline races?

sometimes i had blackout during end of online race, i guess it was due to connection problem.

Just single player. Like my TV comes up with a little box in the corner saying the display resolution etc as if its just got the signal when it goes away, its almost as if the TV looses the signal for a split second, but for some reason it takes a while for it to display the image again. If that makes sense...

Hi,

I just joined the 700PP Fuji F online. I got a grid position and then black screen.

Sorry if I'm in someones way, I can not see what is going on.
According to the sound the others are driving, so I wait till it is finished.
Similar thing accurred while exiting (after correct finish) the online gaming a few days ago.

I stay in till the race is over, in case I'm the host, but I'm blocked 20' in a 10 lap race like this. (Did some free flow before, went OK).

Afterwards (this edit) started simulator again and no issue, did some TT and Drift, results registered without issues.

How do we get this to Polyphony?

Never seen blackouts before - but I have seen stuttering video - I quit the game - ejected and wiped my disc - and it went away...

You mean tearing and slowdowns? Sadly that's normal, GT5P has performance problems.

I've never got a black screen. Wiping the disc can't help: The game ist completely installed on the hdd.

I get these blackouts you describe too, although it doesn't come back unless I change input mode then change back, sort of re-programs it if you will. I also sometimes get the screen flashing black for like half a second which is quite distracting, but that can happen in any game or DVD even. I have never noticed the complete blackout happen in any other game or DVD, but I wouldn't hazzard a guess at it being GT5:P specific.

You mean at game startup?

Every game on the PS3 causes a screen mode switch at startup even if it switches to the same mode as before. That's the only time I have a "blackout".

Well duh!

You might notice I said I've never had any blackouts - I was talking about jerkiness in the starting movie - and that cleaning my disc fixed that...

Sorry, I should read better.

The intro movie should be on HDD, too. I never had jerkiness in movies beside the usual 60->50Hz conversion stuttering (SD Output is in 50Hz on PAL machines, movies in most games are 60Hz only).

Just listen to the BD drive. It stops spinning after some time and never spins up again until quitting the game.
