It's recently come to my attention that a lot of LCDs and plasma's have quite some screen delay, reaching upto 30 - 40 ms. (see this thread).

I was thinking that screen lag might contribute to the difficulty of catching and maintaining slides is GT5 demo?

Appearantly the lag is greatly reduced when connecting to a VGA port (instead of HDMI, ...). So, has anyone been playing with VGA? What is your experience in GT5 demo?

Well it helps to have low lag but i see no major problem with most of games even with 100ms. In GT5 TT you should have a fast TV because of snappy physics although i does not a make big differense in drifting.

I'm not sure if it is the lag or the size, I went from a 55" tv to a 22" monitor and I got better time straight away. And most importantly I have a much more consistent lap time.

I'm running my PS3 through the component outs into an XCM Component to VGA box onto a Sony 21 inch G520 CRT monitor
using 720p at 85 hertz refresh rate

Still have issues catching slides....

I've been playing GT5P for over a year using HDMI and never really had a problem with it, always had quite a good feeling with the cars.
Now in the demo though, I haven't had that at all. Have problems catching slides, ..., the car just didn't seem to respond to my inputs that good.

So after reading this I thought I'd try to use the VGA port, and what a difference. Now I really have a very good feel to what the car is doing and I can put it exactly where I want. Well, not exactly. Being used to 1080p, the quality of the screen is now horrible  and I'm not sure I can improve my times using VGA. Maybe I'll try my dad's LCD tv today to see if it's better (it's a Sony, mine is panasonic and doesn't have any kind of 'game mode') :)

Yes, I seem to feel the same way. Even if my 52" Sony XBR7 is 240hrz it seem to be laggy compare to when I'm using my 23" Samsung.

120,240Hz modes increase input lag. People still think that response time equals to input lag which is not true in any point. Input lag is caused by heavy image processing in TV like motion vector interpolation(120/240Hz). I have input lag of 100ms if iuse 240mode but only 10-15ms if i use graphics mode on my z5500 sony. Game mode is in many cases the best mode but my TV is faster in graphics mode.

Input lag problem is present with all new TVs to some extent.
