Is anyone here using a 144hz screen and how much did screen tearing improve compared to a 60hz monitor? I was looking at getting a 144hz monitor but now I'm thinking I should pay extra to get a G-Sync model to eliminate tearing completely...

G-sync 144hz definitely the way to go PG278Q is an awesome monitor if you can afford it.

As for what impact it haves, I can't really tell since I jumped from 60hz to 144hz G-sync monitor.

Yeah i'm looking at the AOC G2460PG or G2460PQU, either one will be nice but G-Sync does sound really good.

I recently read that bad hdmi connection causes screen tearing

Screen tearing is caused by the refresh rate and frame rate being out of sync, I ended up buying a 144hz monitor and screen tearing is no problem but I do get some stuttering so so g-sync would be nice but it's too expensive at the moment.
