to continue my posting glut this morning....

First, a “Thank you ” is owed to this guy for providing me with very accurate info on the Enduros.

Thanks, Mustang_man

Also a note of thanks to Neon_duke for his write up.

I figure I’ll take a stiff shot in the arm for this one, but I’m heading for Seattle Raceway Endurance race in my Camaro SS. I went shopping first and grabbed a racing transmission. This kept me at 444hp. Hopefully, that should be enough to keep me up with the Dodge Viper GTS.

Seattle Endurance Race
Heeding proper advice, I raised my suspension, 95 F; 100 R. Springs are set at 7.3 F; 6.9 R. Auto Set gearing = 27. ASM = 5, TCS = 1.

It has begun:

I ran a few qualifying laps to see if the Camaro would compete. I turned a high 1'43 lap, with the viper about the same.

I took the lead from the GTS on the 4th lap. Managed to squeeze to the inside on the first turn (hairpin). The Viper never came close after that. I was turning laps in the high 1’41.xxx once my tires warmed up. Cold tires saw me turning mid 1’44.xxx laps, and the same with slightly worn tires.

I saw lap traffic on lap 15 (the cobra) and lapped the entire field by the end of lap 34. I think I had too much power.

Pit Strategy:
I pitted on lap: 20 (yellow rears, and orange/yellow fronts)
Cobra pitted on laps: every other lap. (2, 4, 6…)
Viper GTS pitted on laps: 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35
Mustang SVT pitted on laps: 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35
Camaro Z28 pitted on lap: 30
Camaro SS pitted on laps: 34

Yes, lap 30 and lap 35.

Results
Mustang SVT: + 1 lap
Viper GTS: + 1 lap
Camaro Z28: + 2 laps
Camaro SS: + 2 laps
Cobra: + 2 laps

I’d estimate it was close to 1 ½ lap that I was leading the Mustang by.

Best lap: 1’40.990
Total time: 1:09’466
Average lap: 1’43.512

After running this track for more than and hour, I can honestly say I still hate this track. Although not as much as before. Also I could have dropped some of the mods to do this race. Meaning I could have competed in it much earlier in the game.

I add another 150,000cr to the purse, and in the random draw I was awarded…the Nismo LM road car.

I have tried running with TCS at zero, and it took a bit of getting used to. I decided indstead to set it at 1.

I'll grant you the wish on the ASM. I haven't tried it without it, so I can give it a run. Nothing to lose.

When I first started, I never adjusted it. Slowly been reducing it to nearly nil. It helps subtantialy to reduce it. Big lap time improvements.

I'm going to have to run this again and win more great cars (I think I got the ZZII). I had a great time in this race, using my 300hp-or-so Evo VI. I believe I used medium slicks and pitted every 8, with lap times similar to yours (a few high 01':38-39" laps). My overall time was about 1:06':xx".

FWIW I usually run ASM at 1 or 0, and TCS at 1.

when i raced the seattle enduro, i was really lucky the first time i beat the race i won the F687/s it is now still sitting in my garage with 2000+miles on it

yes, Troy, I could have just entered with my 787B and won it easily. The only competition I would have had was my lap times. Nothing exciting, nor interesting. A boring waste of 70 minutes.

Instead I took a car, that might win, and drove the best I could for 70 minutes, and had FUN doing it.

This is my third trip through the game. I've done this race with an F094/S and all I did was earn 0.2% more towards 100%. At least this time, I gleaned more enjoyment from it.

There are numerous threads (and people) that argue about blowing out a competition. Try it sometime. You may enjoy it.

To expand upon this a bit more, I went looking around the web for info about what cars could win this race. Only found one place. So that people out there know what it takes to win this race, I posted this info. Starting off the game, you can win this race with the cars that you bought/built/won in beginner level.

I do agree with you somewhat. I don't like bnlowing competition away everytime. I just don't feel like racing a race for that long that i may lose, then i would of won nothin out of it.

However what i do like doing is having competition on regular races..15-30 laps. For instance i love talking my 787B and racing it in the f1 races and winning 1st.

I too am 100% so i love competition, I just do boring races with f1's so it takes less time.

My hat's off to you. I've tried the 787B in the F1 sereis. Now that's tough. I'd have to work on it considerably more to get to that level.

My apologies about sounding a bit uppity towards you, your post reflected much of the Newbie banter that I've seen all too much of around here, lately.

NP ;)

One thing thats tough about the f1 races with a 787b is that they tend to always hit you and cause you to spin out... :(

I've only won 1st on midfield, but came in seond some other ones.

Looking at that lineup, I may let my Camaro sit this one out. It looks very similar to what I raced against in the Amateur Stars & Stripes, and that wasn't very much of a competiton (except at Seattle II, but that track is Hell incarnate anyway).

I think I may try a 'Vette Z06 or Grand Sport instead, though it would probably take some suspension work to smooth out the more obnoxious features of the track.

To your amusement, I decided to do some testing with ASM off last night (Under the guise of testing my new headphones for the wife). In the options, ASM had already been truned off. I'm not sure when I did turn it off. So I may very well have turned it off before doing Arcade mode....In other words, I've been running the entire game without ASM. TCS was still turned on.

There had been an underlying notion that I wasn't seeing any effect when adjust it before.

SO there you have it, rufRGT...

I have had it turned off, and only running TCS at 1 or 2.

Wait a minute. You can globally turn ASM off? Really? I thought that the Arcade mode had the driver assists on, and there was nothing you could do about it. Learn something new every day...

Huh? I thought that you could turn off the ASM/TCS in the Options menu for Arcade Mode, but had to adjust it on a per-car basis in Simulation Mode... darn it, now I gotta go look at the manual and get this straightened out.

Know what's really weird though? In GT2, Seattle was one of my favorite tracks... I could get my Superbird around that track with little problem. (Yes, the Great Winged Beast could be made to turn corners that weren't high-banked.) On the other hand, I would loathe racing at Laguna Seca, mainly because of the area from the corkscrew to the finish line.

Now somehow it's pulled a total 180; I look forward to races at Laguna Seca, but Seattle is treated with an overall feeling of dread. I dunno what Polyphony did to change these tracks, but it has to have been something major because they drive a lot differently than their GT2 versions.

I did this one the other night, started out with my Nismo Skyline GT-R S tune with about 480 HP which proved to be too fast, I was like 30 seconds up after 8 laps. So I skipped out and jumped into my RX-7 RZ that I won in the amateur Japanese series. It had 428 Hp the way I had it setup and I was still a little fast on qualifying (around 1’40” lap and I needed to be about 1’43”) so I dumped off some mods down to 381 hp. I was afraid to go any lower because the next jump was like 40 hp down. I was still a little faster than I wanted with a 1’41” ish lap to qualify in 2nd behind the Cobra, and a second or so up on the Vette Z06, Viper, and Mustang. These 3 would prove to be the most competitive AI and all ran right together down to pitting together every 7 laps.
Well off to the races and once again I had the pleasant surprise of being faster than I thought I would be. The trusty Mazda just handled so nice that I just kept turning faster laps and managed to turn one in the low 1’37” range and consistent 1’38” and 1’39”s with good tires. I ran mediums and pitted every 8 laps, and lap times were a little slower for the 1st two after and last lap before pitting. Anyway I ended up lapping the 3 fastest AI just before they went in for their final (lap 35) pit, so I finished a lap +20 or so seconds ahead of the 3, 2 laps up on the Z28 and 3 up on the Cobra. Total time was 1:09:xx so I had a few pretty slow laps that brought down the average to around 1’44” including pits. In retrospect I would like to go back and do it with the 340-ish HP setup and see what happens, especially now that I’ve learned some lines that greatly improved my lap times.
