I know it's been spoken of before, help me, help me, it's impossible. But as a user of a DS3, I find these challenges a near impossibility. I have all Aids off except for Skid Recovery and ABS at 1, and I have not been able to even set a time on any of the tracks. It's too quick, and there definitely isn't any room for error, and I just need some help or my controller's going through a window.

Man, even with a wheel it's freakin impossible! ha, i have tried with a controller too and no luck. I only need to win suzuka but its the hardest to me. the ring and monza took me 4 hours.

As much as I hated doing it, I had to use Automatic, just to maintain maximum concentration.

The main weakness of this car is its own downforce. It has too much. By the time you turn the analog to make a corner, you're already in next one. You can basically sling the car in a corner as hard as you see fit. Get behind on your steering in the slightest, then just restart. You won't make the next turn.

Using a DS3 (times are estimated):
Monza - 40 minutes
Nurburgring - 1 hour
Suzuka - 1 hour & 10 minutes

I want that X1 Prototype.

Well, it's not impossible. What helped me the most is my old Driving Force EX. It's got 200 degree rotation. My G25 is just isn't fast enough.

Just keep trying. Concentrate on a different section at a time. Like the decreasing radius turn leading to the back straight at Suzuka. Keep it in your head that you have to keep your speed up through out the turn. Look for spots where you slow down.

At the Ring whenever possible don't get on the berm. The car slows down for a few seconds after you ride the raised edge. Like the quick S in front of the wall after the long straight. Don't jump the burm. Slow down enough to take the S on the flat.

Man - I used so much time just to get bronze. There's no real tip for Nürburgring or Suzuka other than practice. Maybe watch a couple of videos showing how to get gold - that will show you the perfect way to do this challenge.
I feel that I can beat gold on Monza, as I in practice has made laps under one minute, but it takes a few tries, even though you can do it. Keep trying - that's the only thing that'll work for sure.

Well for those that had wheels, that didn't really help cause I'm using a DS3...

I'm getting a DFGT but I won't practice the X Challenge because I need to learn how to use a wheel first.

I unlocked this and golded all of them tonight. Wasn't as bad as I thought. You have to understand that the X1 is very different to most cars you will drive in GT5. Learn it's limits and soon you will start to see where you can pick up time.

I never really had a problem with pace, the main issue was a clean lap as I was pushing the limits so much. Nurburgring was fine and Monza was very easy due to chicane cutting. Suzuka took the most work but I eventually got it after about 2 hours.

All you can do is stick at it and eventually it will all click and bingo you're level 34 with 3 X1's!

Getting bronze with a DS3 is a pita, but very doable. Took me about a night (read from 6pm to 2am...) to get the Bronze for each one of the 3 races.

Learn the track, learn the car, and try again and again.
The X1 is very different, in some turns you can almost turn and brake at the same time...

I won it maybe 2 weeks ago. Since then I tried it with a wheel (G25). It makes the challenge way easier and silver way more reachable.
You dont need to learn how to use a wheel. Actually I find that 2/3 of the cars sux with a wheel, but the X1 is awesome !

I cheated and got the X2010 through trading but i still can't get these dang bronze trophies, i would love to see a youtube video on someone golding these competitions or even bonzing them

On Sunday I get lvl 30 and I tried out with my controller...
I started with Monza, the easiest one, but after 20 minutes I wasn't still there...

Then I went to Nurburgring and in about an hour I made it bronze. Then, back to Monza, the second attempt was the good one for a bronze.

I had the feeling that it would be so, so difficult to get a silver... I should really start to think about buying a wheel.

The spot where I was losing more time was the fast S in Nurburgring, because with the controller is almost impossible to keep down the throttle while steering left/right there.

Same in Suzuka. The first part of the track is really really difficult with the controller DS3. I will make it, but I need to rest a week before giving another try :D

Just got bronze on Suzuka after about 2-3 hours over a couple of days. :sly: The other 2 tracks were far simpler taking an hour each max. I did them all using DS3 and have concluded that silver and gold are far out of reach without a wheel(although some people claim to have got golds with DS3). I fiddled about with the settings at first but ended up leaving them all at default apart from TC which i turned off. I think the secret is to compensate for the way the car turns too much into corners due to the controler sensitivity. If you can stop turning (with your tumb) before you are actually round the corner the car will still make it round if that makes any sense. There are no real tips though apart from paractice. Good luck

I lift my hat before you guys attempting these challenges with the DS3. Might ask indeed for sharper skills than conquer them with a wheel 👍

I actually think it is easier with the wheel. I got bronze on all 3 tracks after about 4 hours. The key is to brake as late as you can when using the controller. Brake and then crank the stick around to make the turn. The hardest track was definitely Suzuka because the first part of the track...
On Suzuka: You really don't brake much through the first half of the track. You need to try to just tap the brake and then crank the wheel or coast. Both laps need to be very good. 1st lap I'd aim for about 1:13. If you can get faster then it just leaves you with extra cushion.
On Monza: Cut the second chicane (saves you about 3 seconds) and drive with lots of throttle and little brake. Once again, BRAKE LATE! For the first lap I would aim for about 1:09. Any slower lap times will most likely screw you. The fast the lap the better.
On Nurburgring: The hardest part is the Schumacher S and through that you really just need to floor the gas and hope for the best. Both of your passes through that corner need to be perfect! For a first lap time I would aim for a 1:10.

I think i am naturally talented at Monza.
I am 9 tenths off GOLD at Monza, about 3-5 seconds off Silver and I can't be bothered to try beat my time at Suzuka, which was 1 second under bronze.
All done with DS3 and all you really need to do is concentrate and have ASM at 1, Controller Sensitivity at 7 and TCS off.

I have a wheel, but seem to better with the DS3, probable because i've invested more time with the controller before getting the wheel, but if I get a perfect lap I know I can get silver on nurburg, but it seems so impossible, I have gold on absolutely everything else, all licenses and races (except a couple 24h) and other than this I could get the platinum trophy, and its this stupid event thats stopping me! So frustrated, but I guess it makes a "fun" game . . . anyone help?

I've got gold on all of them properly with my DS3, but if you're struggling you could try this

I don't know if it works since the latest update.

So true, Monza is easy and you can cut the chickens.

You dont need a wheel, I did it with a DS3 and and my skill level is not great. I set everything on including steering at 'mild' and sensitivity at 4 worked for me, your driving style may differ though.. It took me about four hours to beat it (I just went for bronze), managed to get silver at Monza. It feels good when accomplished!!

This challenge is very possible to bronze with a DS3. I did wih everything off, ABS 1, Steering 7, and (Believe it or not) Automatic. If you're really stuck, Auto makes concentrating on the turns so much easier, and I swear to you its possible to do in auto. Now good luck getting past bronze with a dualshock :D

It is extremely possible to do with a bronze. I've done it 6 times.

honestly i wouldn't even bother with the DS3, it took me hours for all golds (most time spent on suzuka) with a wheel and i'm very consistent when racing, you have to be absolutely perfect in your reactions and it's just not possible with a DS3, if you're just looking for an X1 and not the Carbon or X2010 you can probably get by with the DS3 for bronze
