Sebastien Vettel challenge: all gold

I'm almost level 29 a-spec and man I'm so looking forward to thus challenge.

Careful what you wish for, its pretty frustrating!

I unlocked it last night and spent over an hour on the first track (nurburg variation I think) to get bronze you need to do 2 laps in 2:14.500. My best so far is 2:29.xxx. My best single lap is 1:11....so I need to get this down to 1:07 before I have any chance....

I just bronzed Nurburg and Suzuka, Monza was already silver, so I got my first X1, but for some reason, it didn't satisfy me as golding all amg's.

I really hope that reaching gold gives me a Major happy-hormons rush!

i dont know if this was ever discussed...

but i had the feeling that, especially the X1, has a quicker steering response when i use the dualshock via USB instead of Bluetooth...

Maybe it's just me...

Good luck on winning it. Btw are you using a wheel or a ds3?

If you cut the chicane in monza, do you get disqualified like in nurb or suzuka?

I played Nurburgring last night and my ONLY clean 2 laps was 2:34... I got a lot of work to do!

My biggest problem was the Schumacher S, if I go flat out I understeer in the second part and get DQ'd.

Using a controller? When I was using a controller, I was about 3 seconds off bronze, but there was no way for me to get any faster...
And I was also having that problem at that turn... Don't steer too much when you're entering the corner. Or, try braking in the middle of the corner a bit until you have the confidence not to steer too much.
The X1 feels lazy with a controller.

I'm using my well worn DFP wheel that I bought the day GT4 came out. Had to even turn the force feedback down to 2 just to be able to handle the car. I'll try giving the brakes a tap to rotate the car a bit.

The Schumacher S is quite annoying with a DS3. You essentially have to start steering to the right whilst you still want to be turning left, because the car's response to the DS3 is about as lazy as PD's playtesting.

I'm using standard sixaxis - I've still not got round to getting a Dualshock! I'd start with Monza if I were you. All my efforts are going towards that first as I'm only 2 seconds away from bronze...(may get no further though!)

This challenge was easily the hardest of any GT game ever...
I have golded everything so far including license and special and mostly did that with ease, usually silver first try and then 1 or 2 more attempts to get gold, this was a completely different story tho as the first time I attempted nurburg i completed the lap and was disqualified for being too slow for bronze, I couldn't quite believe it!!

after an hour I got used to the speed this thing can go through the corners and got myself a silver with almost another second to go for gold, so I decided to give the other tracks a try and easily silvered monza, suzuka however was by far the most difficult as you'd expect with this track, got a bronze tho and happily received my first X2010 (S.Vettell Redbull colours). I was worried at this point that gold would be out of the question and that platinum for this game would be unattainable for me :ouch:

went back to nurburgring and an hour more practice got me the gold, on to monza and quickly got the gold here too, so to suzuka and spent 2 hours to get within .5 of gold. silver got me another X2010 (in purple!). I took a rest for a couple of days whilst bob used the X2010 to grind some endurance races. back to it and within an hour I had my gold with a 2.09.336, I was so proud to beat Vettell by almost 7 10ths and was rewarded with the X2010 Prototype version (carbon colour). :)

the xp rewards on this are well worth the effort, i've only got the last 3 endurance races to do now and haven't had to repeat any a-spec events to boost my xp, i'm expecting I will have to in order to reach lvl 40 tho as I'm only lvl 35 with 2 events left. hopefully some more seasonal events will help boost me a bit...

I used DFGT with TCS=3 ABS=2

I managed to get bronze on all 3 tracks with a DS3, whilst getting silver on Monza, so it is possible to get bronze on this challenge, its just alot harder than with a wheel, because a wheel gives you alot more steering response and precision than a controller

Hello first time poster here.

Looked through several of the beginning pages and could not see anyone who achieved all gold at this challenge. So here is what you get...

Gold: Red Bull X2010 Prototype
Silver: Red Bull X2010
Bronze: Red Bull X2010 S.Vettel

All identical cars with the exception of the S.Vettel version having Red Bull Racing livery.

Here's a couple of Videos of me racing the notorious Nurburgring.

The one below is the same lap but in the kinda TV cam view. It really shows just how fast this car is.

If you want my setup give me a shout and I'll be happy to share, although I haven't thoroughly done it yet, this was just a rough start so I'd expect to shave several seconds off once completed.

Thx and good luck!

Thx for the advice mate:tup:

I've finally gotten to the point that i'm giving up on this challenge. This has to be by far the most frustrating part of the game,oh yes far more frustrating than the top gear lotus challenge.

I've spent nearly an 1 hour everyday for 2 weeks trying to beat the first one and the best i can do is 2:19 something,no better or no worse.I started using manual and then automatic transmission, but i go faster with the manual.Something has to give, maybe they could put a patch in making this challenge just a few seconds longer for us not so good drivers running with something as fast as the speed of light.

I guess that's why this is on such a high level(level being 30)because only the best of drivers out there will complete this.

Sincerely,
aggravated in TN. :grumpy:

Anyone have tips on Golding Suzuka? I've got gold in all but my silver in suzuka :/ dangit.

I'm currently sub 2:11

You're less than 1 sec away from gold so you probably know what you're doing. My advice is just keep banging your head against it until it gives in. :) That was kinda how I got it. My thumbs were sore for a whole week after that.

PS: Even if you've trashed your 1st lap, do not restart and do the 2nd lap as practice.

I'd recommend studying some of the videos that have been posted. From what I've seen, you should be able to get through the esses without braking, you should be able to take that right turn after the esses without braking, and you should be able to get through the final chicane in the 100 mph range. Those are the major ones. The hairpin turn is pretty easy to navigate, that two point turn that's before the back straight is kind of tricky I guess. You could be messing up there.

I think its a little hard for ppl using the G25. Not sure if other wheels have the same problem but on the straights the wheel tends to wobble back and forth for no reason. This happens with every car but the wobble is extremely bad with the x2010.

I've notice this too. I'm using a Fanatec GT3RS and have to reduce the force feedback strength to hold that thing on a straight. The FGT is driveable with my standard wheel setup but the x2010 is not. I think something is wrong here, because no car begins to shake the wheel, especially at this speed.

After I reach bronze on all tracks, I haven't touched the Vettel challenge again, because of this stange wheel behavior.

My DFGT wobbles quite a lot, but that's because I'm using it at FFB = 10, the maximum amount possible.

Took me a while to get used to the amount of wobbling, but afterwards it was easy to keep it steady.

I'm all but a couple of seasonal updates away from level 30 atm and I can't wait to unlock this challenge. Bring it on!

I can play Wipeout on Phantom speed so I'm confident I have the reactions to at least bronze it! :nervous:

I have FF set to 2 and did not have troubles holding the X1 firmly in straights.

Though, if you plan on doing endurances with FF on, you'll end up with serious wrists aches.

Indeed, and not only your wrists.

After spending a weekend doing the Le Mans 24 Hrs (on a 787B), my entire arms felt numb and my wrists felt like someone was driving a nail between them :ouch:

Never had trouble on previous endurances with FFB = 10, but 24 Hrs with that setting on a group C car...is overkill. Can't even imagine the amount of damage that driving an X2010 with the same setting can cause.

I did the 24h of the Mans with the X1. But I cut the power source, so I have effectively FF 0, Is hard to get used to, but it's the way to go.

Ok so I managed to gold Monza which wasn't too hard. I currently have bronze in Nurburgring and Suzuka. To be honest, I don't know how I can knock off the time and gold the remaining two tracks. By far, these challenges are one of the hardest in the whole of GT series (and i've golded all licenses in all of the GT games).

And i'm using NO assists except for ABS 1. I noticed that alot of people have assists on such as TCS. Is there any way to GOLD these without using assists?

It is possible, though you'll need to drive at the very limit of the car and "throw" it around corners. Progressive acceleration is the way to go, especially on Suzuka. I got all golds with TCS off, though it was pretty hard.
