just wondering if anybody knows of a program i can use to lock a basic windows folder by password, to prevent anyone from opening it.

Well, it doesn't lock the folder, but you could try using the Hidden option in the folder properties, then type in the path in Explorer whenever you want to get into it. You just have to make sure that your settings for Explorer is set to not show hidden folders or system files.

Well if you're using multiple user profiles, and you wish to hide the directory from a particular user, then you right-click the directory, choose Properties, click Security, remove Everyone and add only the users that you want to be able to see the directory.

This relies on:
1. You using different user accounts for different people
2. The user from which you wish to hide the directory not having Admin rights to the machine.
