Self imposed reward weight.

I've begun to enjoy the DP Cup in Extreme and to keep it fun I like to at least add a cage and lighten the car, with race suspension, also I use the authentic tyres(the free ones, in various configurations). Getting to play with the suspension setting keeps things Interesting. After winning over and over, I adopted the AMLS reward weight into GT-4 races. By adding 25lbs dead center for a win, 20lbs for 2nd and so on down the line has made for some very interesting racing. I'ts been responsible for my diminishing percentile; but so what.
Yea, I know, you run out of weight after 8 races of a 10 race championship, but usually by the 6th or 7th track your competitors begin to pick up the pace any way. Give it a try and let me know if you like it, or have a better system. Thanks.

Hmm .. I never thought of doing that. Really good idea, maybe I'll start over at some point and do that the whole game.

LOL.

I went out for a spin in a Beginner's Hall race last night, and took my favorite dog-car out.

Halfway through and not able to catch up, I was left wondering: "why the hell is my car so slow?!?". The damn hp loss can't be that bad!

Just five minutes ago, I realized that I'd raised the weight of the car by quite a bit, because it was about 100 kilos lighter than the production version. D'oh.

That's good to keep some challenge:tup: do you get more a-spec with the ballast?

excuse the dumb question, but is a ballast something that you can just change in the settings section, or do you have to buy it somewhere?

The reason is that it affects your power/weight ratio - same thing as adding the lightweight mods to your car changes A-spec

And I'm thinking this whole reward weight might be a neat addition to the WRS, or for a different OLR series.

Thanks for the post!

also in the (Speed World Challenge). Thats where I got the Idea. Do you think the folks at Speed Channel are going to go after rights infringement...

, nah... they'll just give you a 10 kg penalty, right on the noggin'.

Make sure you test cars before imposing a weight "penalty". Some cars will actually handle better with additional weight, especially if it is distributed correctly. It would probably be a good idea to specify that the weight could not be distributed, but even this may be no guarantee of it being a penalty.

Actually, I was wondering about the SCCA weight penalties, because I see that the weights are attached to the rollcage by the driver...

Could this be to keep the weights near the center of the car, so as NOT to alter handling?

Isn't adding weight in GT4 just more realistic? I mean, the driver him/herswlf has at least some noticable weight don't you think? Hmm, considering that I just might add some extra 5% weight to all the cars I race... Also, you can have some fun adding loads of weight to the car and pretend your car is stuffed with people in it :) Taking you friends for a spin for instant :dopey:

Thanks for blowing my secret. Now everybody is going to expose me for the fraud that I am. Audi RS4 was the first one then 111R then Mk 5 GTi. Next will be the G35 coupe.
By the way no distribution, just pile it on, win after win, dead smack in the middle of the car.

Cute. but I usually keep the groceries in the back of my RS4... Got the yellow "Groceries on Board" stuck to the lift gate glass too...

The weights are fixed center-line along the "keel" or tunnel, and are placed fore and aft as to not alter the balance that is inherent to each individual vehicle.
The handling of the car is going to change with the added weight.
It's just too bad the weights are not displayed on the windsheild. :)

I wonder if you could verify this for me as ime forced to spend too much time at the keyboard and not enough at the DS2 ( this will change though :grumpy: );
The maximum central ballast being 200kg for a c.100Aspec race would this be sufficient to get it up to to 200 points , from what i quickly remember i only seem to get 15-25 points for 100kg.

funny that this thread should pop up.

I just posted my observations and some calculations on the relation (or lack thereof) between Power, torque, and weight in the maximizing A-spec points thread.
My post is here (post 184): Clicky

In response to UrsaMajorPrime's post a few months ago, I have found it innacurate to say that a change in PWR results in a change in A-spec points.
Although it is true that adding weight will give more a-spec points, the percent change in points is not proportional to the percent increase or decrease caused to the PWR.
Power, torque, and weight are all considered as independent factors to find a-spec points. PWR and TWR are not considered.

Check my post in the other thread to see my observations and calculations.
