The McLaren F1 Team will be sponsored by Japanese Sony Corporation from 2014 replacing the British Vodafone, Title Sponsor from 2007 to 2013. This is the start of McLaren’s new Nipponese age because the British team will have the Honda’s engine from 2015.

Sir I saw this and was like great another baseless thread, but you did your homework it seems. There is obviously a major chance of the car being in the game and the exclusive licenses may be up as far as SRW goes.

PD already has a partnership with Red Bull (X2010, X2011, and X2014), and they are in good with Nissan.

I highly doubt the Sony logo will adorn McLaren next year.

Besides, where exactly did you pull this piece of information from? McLaren hasn't said a word (not even a hint) about what their sponsor for next year will be.

Just more speculation BS this sub-forum is full of...

This mock up was posted on Twitter this morning, they must have forgot to change the Mercedes logo to Honda though.

Edit: My mistake, Mercedes is correct.

They don't switch to Honda engines until 2015, i don't think.

I saw Taki Inoue post that which means it's probably not going to happen since he is one of those loveable trolls.

btw I love how whoever made it has added the dipped section to the nose to make it like the penis nose on 2014 cars!

True, Taki Inoue is a muppet sometimes. He does get it right occasionally, just not very often :)

Please tell me you're being sarcastic? No, a sponsorship agreement has no baring what so ever on whether or not a car will appear in Gran Turismo. It literally means nothing! Time for people to realise that.

I don't think the Red Bull tie up would have been a conflicting one. Obviously that tie up has come from their association with Nissan which has the Infiniti sub brand which Red Bull has as a sponsor. It hasn't prevented other brands From appearing in GT.

The problem in the past was that Maclaren own Senna's stuff from the McLaren era on, so yes, maybe this is more likely now.

tbh we are talking about Sony sponsoring a F1 team... Oh forgot to mention, the most iconic and famous team besides Ferrari. I don't think you can compare this to Sony/GT sponsoring small privateer teams at LeMans or N24h.

IF this rumour turns out to be true (I doubt it), its not unreasonable to expect some announcements relating to GT.

Btw Microsoft sponsored Lotus and T10 got the E21.

A Mclaren DLC pack with a f1 car from each decade, a P1 and the old Mclaren LM car would be nice addition. Maybe even the Mclaren technology centre as a photomode location :)

Did you read my posts after that one saying I'm basically taking back what I've said. I still agree that if they do sponsor there is a massive chance it will yield something for PD. And I wouldn't be surprised to see such guys as Jenson going over to PD and doing some promo and test stuff, he's already an honorary Japanese citizen. :sly:

A Red bull partnership and still no RB6 ,7 , 8 or 9 !!!

Do you know how far that goes? And if so then can you share? Don't expect to see an 8 or 9 because they are with CM but so is the E21 and T10 made that work. Who knows how RBR's license works I mean you'd think that perhaps it would be a portion of Infiniti but that dealership hasn't been updated since GT4.

That website has been updated with the following:

Add1: Messa from Corporate Communications at Sony Corporation: “Regarding your inquiry, please be advised that there is no such fact“.

Can I draw to us Gran Turismo drivers that some of the Formula cars on Gran Turismo 3 were some that Senna drove.
Yeah I remember all those versions PD had back then, that was great. The offline game really peaked out with GT4, then GT5 kinda fell flat from a track variation/ F1 perspective with maybe the only real improvements being physics & online. Hopefully since Senna is in this game they include an F1 car or car(s). After all, he's not known for his world karting championship battle, but his F1 career!

Seeing this as a prize car would be a pleasant surprise:

The Toleman TG184 he drove to 2nd place (from 13th) at Monaco.

I heard they only had a license to Senna's image to 1987, so perhaps we could get one of the Lotus F1 cars he drove from '85 to '87, but I doubt if the McLaren MP4/4 would make it. Although they could license all of those separately.

The Red Bull partnership didn't conflict with Ferrari, so there's no reason to think that would conflict with a potential McLaren tie up.

I do agree that there's not enough information to go off at this point to begin building expectations about this, though.
