Serious connection issues with our private lobby

We have a league that get together every Thursday to race. Unfortunately in the last few editions we started to face strange disconnection issues. We have checked everything:

- We all have good Internet connections;
- We all are in the same region;
- All connections are shown green.

What happens:

Depending on who hosts the lobby one or more players have a strange slash over their audio icon. Others doesn't show their ranking points. When this happens, surely they will disconnect very soon.

If we change the hosts, others will have the same behavior and disconnect.

We tried everything from 9pm to 11pm with no success. everybody restarted their routers etc.

I guess this is due to the lack of a server. The network architecture for this game seems to be very unstable as one player depends on the other one connection.

Any tips or similar experiences? This is ruining the experience and the players are dissatisfied and stating to consider migrating to other race games.

Thanks in advance,

I've been racing in leagues for a while and I haven't had any issues. I've recently joined 2 leagues with guys from America and still haven't had any issues.

On the network architecture, they're using P2P. It's the same disadvantage as many other games have like the F1 series. Although I'd definitely be happier with a non-P2P based idea.

I have noticed very poor connection and extrem high ping on every pc2 server i joined with friend on pc. His ping in assetto corsa 70ms, his ping in pc2 150ms my ping in ac 35ms in pc2 90ms, german servers tested. Its no fun to drive online with this poor server performances. Its also very difficult to create a working dedi server. :crazy:

I think there must be some upload/download stability issues PC2 can't handle.

I've been playing (using) PC2 since release and never had a single disconnect issue. Then last night for the first time, no matter what I rebooted, I couldn't stay in a lobby for more than a minute. On checking my settings, my usual 10Mbs upload was hovering at an oddly low of 5Mbs. I'm guessing it was in consistent as well.

It was even so bad I tried a public lobby FERS race out of desperation, and we all know how crap those are. To my dismay, it worked fine.

Then just as much out of the blue, back up to the 10Bps I've been paying for and a stable connection again. Ran several races without an issue.

Any tips?

This may have no effect, but if you do practise before the race do it in a different room. Do the qualifying and race in a different room - I don't know if this helps, but everyone enters the room for qualification at the same time.

I've been doing the above out of necessity since getting PC2 simply because I don't get home in time so another person hosts the practise session and we very rarely have disconnection problems.

I have noticed more problems when using lap races with a compulsory pit stop - timed races without stops seem more reliable.

It is hard to say as the issue does not affect everyone. I never have any connection issues - ever, but we have 5 or 6 guys in the league who just can't seem to get on the same server together without causing disconnects of the other player or themselves. It eventually sorts itself out as the issue is intermittent but we have no idea what the root cause is. I suspect it is network related so potentially caused by modems/routers and other equipment provided by a player's ISP.

My ISP is normally very stable with 30Mbs down/10 up but at the time I was having continual disconnect issues it was running at 5Mbps up. I suspect this was 10Mbps that was so inconsistent it was behaving like 5Mbps overall. Since then, back up to 10Mbps and everything is fine again. Just done a 1 hour quali and race with no problems.
