setting up 66 ac shelby 427

I'm a new guy here, and trying to get my feet wet with the whole suspension tuning. I never did any changes within GT3 as I would make a change and it would end up worse than when I started, so I gave up.

now I am trying to get to where I can do it, I have had some success with newer cars (when I say success, I mean not screwing it up totally), and with those I usually just tweek it around a little and it does what I want, however I am not having any success setting up the shelby, I like the car, and I want to use it for the euro races pre 1970, but I am getting beat in the corners because I can't trail brake, I can't accelerate out of the corner, I just plow.

honestly, I'm trying to set it up where it will work well on the ring, but I've found that if something handles well on the ring it will handle well on any other track :)

I guess, where I'm at is, I am starting to understand the theory, but I just can't seem to apply it right for this car.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I started playing around with it as soon as I got home today and I came up with this, it is almost managable:

F/R
brakes: 10/5
springs: 6.3/5.5
height: 85/92
bound: 8/8
rebound:9/9
camber: 2.4/1.0
toe: 0/0
stabilizers: 4/5

driving aids
tcs only and at 3

LSD
initial: 7
accel: 15
decel: 19

tranny is of my own concoction started with auto 11 and tweaked.

this was tuned on nurburgring, but is by no means anything worth using and considering good, it snaps out at any off camber turn if you aren't ready for it.

I put it up here let the experts fiddle with mine (or scrap it and start over) I'd just like to see how far I am off from some of the better tuners.

Thanks!

i ran it stock with all assists off and didnt have a problem otrher than getting very squirelly under hard braking light thumb usually solves that problem, its a high horsepower car be light on the gas coming out of the corners,,,the pre 70 euro cup shouldnt be a problem at all, mines bone stocxk and i can winn easily

Buy a brake controller. Set the front to 1, and the rear to a higher value (like 8). This should help with trail braking, as it allows the fronts to turn without the heightened chance of a lock. Just go easier on the brakes and you wont have to worry about the fronts locking up. If the rears lock up, all it will do is give you a bit of oversteer, which would be good if your car has trouble turning.

after making these changes and running it on nurburgring a few times, I cut 30 seconds off my lap times (a personal best in this car of 7:30). I like the challenge of the car, it is fun to drive, I'd just be curious to see how off I am from some of the people that have been doing this for a few versions of GT :)
