Hey guys, not to be biased, but i know most people in this forum want to max out their cars in GT to have the most horsepower it can possibly have. I on the other hand prefer cars that are lightly tuned, you know, better than stock, but you still feel like your driving the car that your modding. Anyway, i was curious if anybody had any setups for lightly tuned cars, no power modding, ok maybe slight power modding such as exhaust, chip and/or engine balancing and port/polishing. What i'm looking for is mainly suspension, chassis, gearing, tires, aero and brakes. Since i suck at tuning, would anybody have any setups to share for such cars, mainly cars that are in the (stock) range of 100 to 300 HP. I would love to test them against their stock counterpart, just for fun! Thanks alot.

Great idea! I'm interested in this as well. In fact I have been reading up on the tuner challenges and wondered if anyone has done or would want to do a similar challenge on "lightly" tuned cars. I had a great tune on a subaru wagon but my memory card became corrupt and I lost it. But I'd like to rebuild it again soon.

Anyway my idea was to offer a tuner challenge, something like say a $50-75k spending limit (including car), stock or street tires only, etc. Maybe some other restrictions such as no pure racing or original parts. I obviously love the "street" tuned cars as well.

Would you be interested in this? If so maybe we can get some people together.

I proposed starting a challange like this but with various models of cars a little back. It was a no go.:indiff: The mods didn't like the different car thing. I wanted it to be similar to the Touge Battles on Best Motoring. However, I wouldn't mind starting up a tuning challange like you mention either! I also appreciate a mild mod or too!:)

Uhh that's actually not 100% accurate at all, what you proposed here..

..was a lap time competition for a range of cars, it was not said to be a no-go by daan or myself. You posted an idea and we commented on it.

To be quite honest the Virtual Track Day series was close to your idea and was run over in the short race series (but was not strictly competitive).

However what is being proposed by shawtyoner is more a discussion thread for lite tuning, which is not the same, but is a good idea (& I must apologise to shawtyoner for missing his PM on this very subject - not quite sure what happened) as most tuning tends to centre around the full bore set-up.

Regards

Scaff

I like this idea because I usually cant afford to fully tune a car so I just do it partially. And its more fun and challanging in my own opinion.

Scaff, no worries with the PM, i asked a couple of other people as well, i just figured it would be cool to have a place to refer to for those seaking setups for lite moded track cars. Duck has an awesome archive for cars with full blown setups, which in turn is why i was hoping others had setups they could share for litely tuned cars. Anyone who is interested, please upload them, i would love to try them out.

Thanks!

I like milder setups as well. It's much more fun to work on mastering a track rather than holding on for dear life and just keeping the car on the road.

My friend and I used to race on the 'Ring this way. It was pretty competitive, since were were always trying to cook up better setups and use a wide variety of cars. Everything was going good until my friend decided to steal one of my setups and use it to beat me.lol

There's actually a competition similar to the Best Motoring/Touge Showdown thing, where cars are rated based on driving feel. I ran across it at www.idforums.net and they said it was being run in conjunction with GT Planet, so maybe it's on the board here somewhere. What's cool is that the cars aren't tested on just one track. There are two known tracks, and an unknown third track that entrants have to tune for. Judges also post videos of the cars being driven.

If your interested, I'm trying to start a non-tuning relay race race.
Here is a link to the thread if your interested. Random Relay Race I was looking for at least 5 racers to commit before starting up anything.

Back on topic: In my first GT4 game I would buy, then build them to their max before even hitting the track. Needless to say things got borring rather fast.

In my second game I'm trying to build the cars as little as possible to compete in each series. Most of the time I race them stock. It makes the game more interesting. There are a couple of built up monsters in my garage, but the majority of my cars are stock, or modestly tuned.

I have a nice setup for a 206 s 16 somewhere on the site. Its pretty built, only because it needed it though.

I like this. With the way opponents seem to be chosen for races, it no longer feels like you're "missing the point" if you don't super-tune. Will experiment and post after work.

thats what im actually doing, i love the nissan 240sx , i have a 278hp 268 torque, trying low hp setups, my time is 8:07on nür as a reference and my driving skills are poor and i always get out of the track, ive ben working on this setup for a while, i thought u guys might give it a try, or tips and stuff

Awesome deathwing, unfortunately i'm at work right now but i can't wait to try it out later on. I'll let you know how i did.

Someone is trying to start up a competition in the main GT4 forum. The light-tuned type of cars we are talking about would do well there, especially since the comp is supposed to have a Touge Showdown feel to it.
