Yeah, the handling on Shift 2 is excellent at being slippy and trippy. I personally struggle on occasion with that game, but it still has that excitement about it (for better and worse). I still use all of the default button mappings.

My 'Advanced Wheel Settings' setup:
FFB Strength: 100
Steering Deadzone: 2
Steering Sensitivity: 65
Throttle Deadzone: 6
Throttle Sensitivity: 50
Brake Deadzone: 6
Brake Sensitivity: 50
Clutch Deadzone: 6
Clucth Sensitivity: 50
Speed Sensitivity: 50
Speed Sensitivity (Drift): 50 (edited, though it might need to come down more) (I don't drift much, so take that with a grain of salt)
Steering Lock: 360
Steering Lock (Drift): 250
Inversions: Normal

I still have my fair share of problems, but this setup works more or less for me. Hope it helps.

That's strange. Luckily the lock isn't overly important, you just have to find the range that works for you, based on time and experience. If it feels like it takes too much effort for a smaller input, the value needs to go down, and vice versa.

And I haven't really given (extensive) tuning a shot. I'm far better at tuning/tweaking in GT, though I'm familiar with how everything works in Shift. I can happily help you out if needed, but I would have to do a bunch of testing to get you a good tune, as I don't just have tunes at the ready.

k.
sometimes, i still run into the walls ._.
Otherwise it helps!

If your steering lock is showing 100% instead of degrees, go to the root of where the game is installed (for steam it would C:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\ if you have the ORIGIN version then its C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\) right click on the need for speed shift 2 folder and go to security tab. Click on edit, and give Users FULL CONTROL. Click OK and apply and close out. Now when you launch Shift2 you should have actual steering lock.

I still play the game on PC but mainly in the single player campaign as I use several mods to make the game less flashy and more realistic. Plus the physics mods make it more challenging/realistic.
