Ive been playing shift 2 on the ps3 with a DFGT wheel,I took a break for a while and came across a xbox 360 racing wheel and went and rented shift 2 for the xbox 360 and was blown away on how much better it handled and looked compared to the PS3 version. The default settings for the xbox wheel are perfect no input lag,the game is amazing on the xbox 360 with the official xbox 360 racing wheel...

I agree that it is better on x box. I am playing with a fanatec set up. The only downside to it is that if you play with a wheel other than the official x box wheel the ffb drops out in between races which really doesn't work well online. But I have never had the freezing issues that ps3 players have.

I have played on the xbox. I dont see any difference in gameplay at all. There is no freezing, but the handeling is the same. You sure its not just in your head? I used the ms wheel as well.

I have both the PS3 and Xbox versions....sold my Fanatec wheel a few months ago so I only use the gamepads now. I know the Xbox looks better, and swear it feels better too - but just thought it was me. My Ps3 doesn't "freeze" but the framerates drop and make the game feel like it is slowing down at random times, don't get that feeling on the Xbox version.

I have an Xbox but don't use it for racing... it sucks that there is not much of a choice of wheels. Many options for the PS3 and most of the PS3 wheels also work on the PC. If I could buy something reasonally priced and it will work on the PC also I may have more interest in the Xbox for racing games.

That is strange, I don't see any framerate problem on my PS3. Seems to run very well in that regard.

Agreed totally with OP.

I originally had the PS version.
Raudi who used to post around here recommended the Xbox version due to better FF, input lag and looks.

I PM'd raudi for more details and I ended up trading in the PS3 version.

Only problems I have are FF drop outs and magnetic effect when colliding in certain instances. Which is very annoying.

Ive been doing some testing on both versions ,the frame rate does drops alot on the Zolder track on the ps3,The frame rate is perfect on the xbox version, no drops at all...Force feedback seems stronger on the PS3 with the DFGT wheel but the xbox feels better no input lag and the helmet cam works alot better on the xbox...Its like you can just tell that the game was developed for the xbox and most likely ported over to the ps3...

I also use the Xbox and Xbox wheel, and even though I'm an old bloke, and a newbie to online racing, feel pretty comfortable with it. I just found the tuning a bit easier with Shift1, which I started out with. No way can I use a gamepad...on anything. lol!

Considering SMS are PC developers....yea. But you'd think they put more effort into the PS3 version since Gran Turismo is on PS3. They basically lucked out that GT5 was awful.

Might just buy a copy just to see, i have a brand new MS wheel, in the attic, which has never been used.

I love this game, but it does have its annoyances the lag on the Ps3 is my main gripe.

I'm still here :)

UPDATE: I actually ended up trading in my XBOX version for the PS3 version because the FFB is horribly broken for the Fanatec Wheel on the XBOX version of Shift 2 after the last patch!

PS3 version doesn't look as good and has frame rate stutter on some tracks vs XBOX version, but at least I can play online without having the center spring FFB drop out after crashes, car resets or between races. Another advantage of the PS3 version is that you can get wheels off in the grass and it doesn't suck you in!

Online was unplayable for me with the constant FFB drop outs - if you have a Fanatec wheel, buy PC version (or PS3) Shift 2!
