Ok, from what I gather it isn't the game a lot of us hoped for, but seeing as it's fairly cheap right now...

If you use a wheel (DFGT in my case), how bad is the steering lag issue?

Tolerable or AAARGH!!?

This doesn't have to be a bitching thread, just your feedback on this particular issue :)

I find once you set the wheel up (search youtube for shift2 dfgt settings), it is another game completley

I don't notice any steering lag personally, but I did have to play with the settings quite a bit before I was comfortable with it.

PS3
DFP

I think another issue with the game is it is just not immediately driveable anyway especially as a lot of the default car setups are quite bad.

HOWEVER - despite the bugs, (I haven't personally had any freezing issues while driving, only in menus - but your experience may well differ)

If you stick with it & get used to driving it, it provides absolutely the best racing experience to be had on a console. The AI are fantastic.

If you give up because it doesn't feel like GT (and it doesn't feel anything like GT) then you will miss out on some excellent racing

Another word of warning though, I have not been able to play GT again since learning to drive this.

I won't vote although I have a DFGT I loan it along GT so I only play S2U with a G27.

Personally, those who still play the game don't care anymore about lag or other issues. I think everyone is so well adapted to the game we can overlook its faults (except freezing) but I'm not the most affected guy either.

I feel the exact same.
Using a dfgt currently.

Tolerable.

I have both the PS3 and PC version, while I have no trouble with the PS3 version, it is clear that the PC version is yet sharper, so there is indeed some lag in the PS3 version.

Cant vote on either of these two. I feel a lag but there are ways to tune your wheel so that it doesnt matter too much and to reduce the lag to a tolerable minimum. Its ok the way it is.

Now the freezing on the other hand... GRRRR! I d say buy it second hand only so that no further money goes to those greedy pricks at EA.

Thanks guys, I guess it's a case of suck it and see eh?
When it first came out, I had the original Shift briefly on 360 and enjoyed it for a couple of weeks fwiw..

What the hell, it's only £15.

Xboxes are pretty cheap secondhand too, and no issues with their wheel.

Lol, yeah I've got an Xbox but I got rid of the wheel to help fund the GT5/PS3/DFGT extravaganza/semi-let down... But let's not go there ;)

At that price you may aswell give it a shot. You can always trade it if it doesn't work out. I shelved it because of the lag but there are many others who are fine with it. If you can get over the lag and freezing there is a great game hiding in there.

dfgt + PS3 slim 250go, no problems of lag with a good setup

however some freezes during menus or race loading

A lot of tune hours to get mine G27 along with Shift 2, before any patch was released and soon after. But now everything is so tolerable except game freeze problems, if only SMS could eliminate this flaw then i could say Shift 2 is the best racing simulator / game / etc

I experienced the lag issue, and had just about giving up on this game. I made a few adjustments with the tuning and was amazed at the difference.
