According to metacritic, first review is up. PC Games Russia gave it and 85, saying:

"Shift 2 is independent, competitive and strong as never before. It delivers a deep, thrilling and authentic driving experience. And its PC leadership is unquestionable."

Too bad the article itself is unavailable.

Considering PC will have no problems regarding frame rate, and the FFB will feel much better and responsive at 60fps than 30 I have no doubt it's going to be amazing for that platform. Eventually if something goes wrongs there is a comunity of modders out there. We should consider S2U for consoles and S2U for pc like two different games.

thats nice .. but
ill wait for Gamespot & ign

Sorry.., but I never rely on Gamespot or IGN for racing reviews. The review that I'm waiting for will be from the team over at SRT on YouTube. Those guys do MUCH better reviews than those other sites. These guys have full racing rigs with all the good wheel combos too. They're way more qualified to give a review on these types of titles IMO.

ISR are probably the best for a wheel users perspective.

Only problem is that there reviews seem to get later and later.

If you were waiting on them for GT5 you would still be waiting.

I appreciate what they do though.

Is shift 2 not under embargo?

I really didnt think there was a connection between frame rates and force feed back....

I personally don't really rate ISR for much, there have been a few moments in their reviews where it kind of looks a lot like they kind of don't know what they're really doing - my personal favourite was -

"does this use realfeel?"

"uhh.. I don't know"

*comments on FFB and physics*

I mean. Dude. This is not hard to work out.

What else - the general bandwagon jumping, lack of depth (again - this kind of - "watch us review the physics of this car without mentioning one single test or demonstrate any familiarity with the driving characteristics of the real car", and lack of any disclosure in their reviews (hey, nice shirts, guys).

I mean. I've watched a few of them when they get linked - and if I am drunk/high enough at the time I start to think I am watching some straight to dvd sequel of dumb and dumberer starring clint howard and jeff daniels stunt double.

Oh, the other thing is that you often see FFB and framerate mentioned as strongly interrelated in some PC games because (from memory) they did/do run on the same thread in most of the ISI games and graphics fr/stutter issues can potentially cause FFB issues with them.

Yes I enjoy seeing SRT because they think they are the last coke on the desert of sim racing - what they did was find a way to get their hands on all the good hardware (for free) that sim racing provides so you cant really think that they are all that stupid ...

I really enjoy when they always say ... no assists ... like they are saying - look, no hands on the wheel.

Im always learning - so in PC FFB and FR are related but not on console?

It would really depend entirely on how the game is set up and coded. From memory (again :)) I think some of that behaviour in the early ISI games was due to the way dinput/ffb support used to work in Windows too.

Yeah, I don't know if I'm really sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see where on the 7-9 scale ign and gamespot stick the game :)

I don't even read reviews unless they're made from real users who play the game. Its a game of patient (waiting for user reviews in forums) and hope (like for shift 2 where I pre-order on sight :D )

I do watch pictures and movies though...

In top performance PCs.
Not really. A buddy of mine with what I'd call a mid range PC (athlon ii x4 @2.8Ghz and Radeon 5750) can run F1 2010 at more settings than even needed. We are talking Dx11 mode, all settings to Ultra and 8xMSAA and he still gets 40-50 fps on average on his mediocre PC.

With FFB improvement I mean the global feeling of the car improve because at 60fps wheel input and relative graphic response is quicker, resulting in a more natural feeling (you need a decent pc, a wheel, a sim and fraps to try this by your self).
In console you will find a sort of optimized and standardized version at 30fps. I'm not saying it will be bad, but don't think it's going to be the exact same feeling of a 60fps high end pc. We need at least 2 reviews, one for pc and one for console. Or even better 3: pc, ps3 and 360 because they all could be different.

I should have all three available to compare on Tuesday (Bought PC and rented XBOX and PS3 versions from Gamefly)

My PC setup is pretty High end: SLI / Triple Screen + I have a T500RS and Fanatec Wheels.

Framerate shows up in game with EVGA Precision app on my PC.

Can't wait Raudi.

After watching the vvv gamer video the wheel handling looks terrible.

I might be pulling the plug on this one.

Raudi,

May I ask for you to give us the results on the wheel with default settings AND the eventual tweak you might need to adjust the steering to your liking?

I have a DFGT and a G27 but still looking forward for your review.

I have been re-playing Shift 1 on my PC to get ready and the wheel control is very precise and predictable (no assists) - allowing me to throttle steer through turns easily and no wandering at all on straights. I'm using 400 Degree rotation set in Windows, 0% for all deadzones and 50% Sensitivity for Steering, Throttle and Brake, 10% Speed Sensitive Steering and 100% lock.

I couldn't believe how much better Shift looks on PC compared to XBOX and I expect the same with Shift 2 based on Jamesways comments.

Note: I'm also using the Overhaul 2 mod if that makes any difference.

I will try defaults first and list any tweaks! (will compare all three using my Fanatec PWTS wheel since it works on all platforms.

The EA site is claiming 9/10 reviews:

http://www.needforspeed.com/shift2unleashed/extras/reviews

9/10 "The Real Deal" - Official Xbox Magazine

9/10 "Impeccable" - EGM

9/10 "Visceral" - Official Playstation Magazine
That was enough for me. I finally decided to preorder.

Super-sim or not, I need a new 9/10 racing game in my life.
It's worth noting that many scores for Shift1 were also in that range, and outside of it's terrible racing wheel handling, I'd agree with them.

Worst comes to worst, I'll have a decent game for gamepad driving.
I'll see you guys in Autolog next tuesday.

Until guys on here who get it on April fools day calm my nerves about wheel support/handling.

I ain't getting on no hype train ever again.

I survived the GT express disaster but only just.
