Guys I was just sitting here tuning as normal when all of a sudden 2 thoughts hit me. 1) tuning itself is just as much fun as driving. Especially with this v1.02 patch. I am understanding tuning better here than I was in the GT franshise. Only thing I hate about tuning is that damn auto scrolling menu on the longer tuning description menus such dampers. I am knocking off several seconds anywere from 1-6 seconds in some cases now. We all know that a .001 second can make or break your race.

I am also having more fun (more sucess) tuning each car to each track. Versus having settings for multiple tracks (being lazy). In the real world, race teams set the car to each track. Which brings me to my 2nd thought. If this game crashes, if you mess up, if you want to share, take settings to a different game or what ever your case may be, you'd be pissed if you lost your settings or what not. So I just created a Tuning chart for S2U. Its more work involved because you have to record your settings but in the end, you'd be glad you did if you lost your settings. I haven't seen anyone do this yet here so here it is. Modify as needed. This is a brainstorming rough draft example chart. If there are spelling errors or dislikes, correct on your end.

Alphabetize it to make finding your cars easier. Especially if you have multiples of the same car. To distinglish mulitple cars, I colored the tune the closet color as my car. Make a per track list, a per car list, per Manufacturer, per class......Its up to you how to catergorize it. Enjoy

****Update - 2011-05-16

Alright guys I just finished the doc to include all tracks and all cars. I referenced the game and the official Shift 2 website. Let me know of any errors or corrections to make. I don't have the DLC packs so some thing might be missing or not filled out.

I am also working on a multi tab version based on the 9 Class types (ex. Modern, Retro, Muscle...) to shorten the Master List. Just another way to organize. But I can't upload it because the file is over the 2mb limit though so you guys will have to do that one yourselves.

I just make daily backups of the game data file but I already downloaded it; in case I'll go to a friends house :D

[edit]

A public spreadsheet using Google docs would be nice and always available (to me at least :P). This way we didn't need to search for this thread every time and download the file to check if there's a new tune 💡

Downloaded thanks ;) nice work. too bad you didnt wright the name of all the cars and tracks :D

Lol, I didn't plan on doing all the cars/tracks but give be a day or two and I will repost. But I was saying it was an example chart because everyone might set their charts up differently or not buy all the cars in the game. I will set it one way but someone else may like it a different way. This was more or less a thought to have an electronic file to reference when needed.

A game back up will do the trick but two things will happen. 1) if you have to use your backup it means you have to go thru the whole tuning process all over again. Each track will require the smallest correction when going by memory. Even still you just may not be able to get it exactly where you had it soo good. 2) you must be in the game to even see your settings which means its not very convenient. You have to go thru every single car/track to see your settings. A chart will list everything you put on it without being in the game. You can reference one car to set another similar without haven't to go back and forth if you are in the game.

As far as google docs, I have no idea what that is. Never heard of it. A zipped file is the only way I knew of sharing this.

ive got a notebook, i feel like a ******g raceing team manager, great fun, adds another dimension haveing to keep records, makes it more personal.

It seems to me that in the main you're better off driving around the handling limitations than taking the time to 'tune' them out

I'm not convinced about the 'tuning' in S2

I tried using Google docs for that same reason, but it appears that the link changes each time you upload a new file. So I guess you would have to keep editing the original post to include the new link.

Also, I was able to unzip the file, but the file extension was lost. What kind of file is it? I tried pdf and doc.

Its a zip file. You need either Winzip or WinRAR to extract it and have Excel to use it. Not sure if any spreadsheet software will work with it. But its not a pdf because you can't edit it electronically. If you want I can post a pdf and you can print off the document but it defeats the purpose of electronic modification.

All right guys a new completed file is up. Go to my original post to retrieve it.
