Shift 2: Unleashed is an underdeveloped relic!???

Is there any other game out there that attempts to be a realistic racing game with realistic damage?? Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like Shift 2 is the only game that's attempted this. I mean realistic crashes not a dent in a door or a floppy hood. Man, I've been wanting a racing game like that for YEARS. But I just started looking into racers recently and just discovered Shift 2. From the videos I've seen, the car damage could be a lot more realistic if more work was put into it. And judging from the reviews the sim part of it needs work as well. But I mean... theoretically it sounds fun as hell and encourages you to drive properly and creates a more intense driving experience with more serious risk vs reward options and looks f'ing great. My rhetorical question is: How stupid does EA have to be (or anyone for that matter) not to see the potential in this? From what I've read, they're insanely demanding on the devs. Look at GT or Forza. It seems like they get it done when it's done for the most part. If EA wants Shift to compete with those games and sell better then what you do is establish yourself as a great racing game. You damn well make sure your product is the second coming of Christ, no matter how long it takes. Then you can make changes, add **** and whatnot and have your stupid annual or bi-annual release schedule EA. Not that I condone that. But EA must have serious packs of apes working for them. In fact, I wonder if there is any dev out there elaborating on Shift 2 right now. **** EA. If the game is great, it'll get published. If I had money I would drop everything right now and do this.

Look at Project CARS. It's made by Slightly Mad Studios, who made the NFS Shift games. Those games were bad because EA made stupid decisions with it. Project CARS looks like it has incredible potential because EA isn't involved. Unfortunately, since a big name publisher like EA isn't backing it, SMS doesn't have as much money as they could for the game.

Perhaps you would be interested in Next Car Game? It's not a traditional motorsports simulation, but for a "simcade" sort of game the FlatOut series (same developer) always had impressive handling physics.
