Shift vs. SCGT

Now, EA has stated that Shift 2 is competing directly with GT5 (I don't know how, but that's what they said). The Shift franchise is alright, but it's lacking a lot. As did ProStreet, but PS was a bit better, in my opinion. But what people forget is EA's first attempt to compete with the GT series: Sports Car GT. It featured several licensed tracks that have never been seen in a GT game as well as a few cars that haven't been in a GT game:

And it was pretty simple. You COULD buy parts but you didn't need to, and every car was already racing liveried. I think, if EA went back to the Sports Car GT format, the could actually give GT a run for their money. And actually spend more time on the physics than a year. I wonder if they could get some of those old license back.

There wasn't any damage in SCGT, but it was still a fun game and included a lot of things that hadn't been done before like Pink Slips, and full pit stops for tires and fuel and to change drivers.

EDIT:
SCGT was developed by ISI (Image Space Inc.) Which currently makes rFactor...which would essentially be SCGT 2...and 3 soon.

Perhaps EA should hire ISI again to develop their Racing Sim franchise.

I personally think that Shift Unleashed 2 is light years better than gt5 but again that's just my opinion. All I know is that for me SU2 has done what Gt5 and forza could not with less cars and other options. Again this is my own personal opinion and im not trying to start a flame war but i havent picked either gt5 or fm3 up since shift 2 as they both seem very dull to me. In fact if i had to rate them in order of fun factor i would go with su2 first then forza 3 with gt5 being last.
