I was experimenting with this a little this morning, putting the X2010 around Indy to see if maybe I could pick up fourth instead of fifth and I crashed into the wall at the start of the race. I decided to put my guy at the head of the pack before letting him go, and then I realized something.

That rubber band makes the X2010 downright controllable. :) No more swerving all over the place, no more crashing, just nice easy driving at 270mph.

Of course, I'm sure someone somewhere will label this cheating (as if rubber band grinding isn't?) but it helps a LOT!

And yes, I'm not that good of a driver...

You're only getting 5th? And hoping for 4th? Sure you are doing it right?

You might have ASM on. I had someone use my guy for a bit and turn ASM on and I was having trouble winning after that. Make sure it is off.

Thanks! Followed the instructions and got a 43 second lap on the Dream Car Indy race... :)

First rate...

Now you can actually "auto-grind". While you sleep. While you eat. Participating in coit... errr you get the point

This game would be great if it weren't for all the other cars...

I think the great philosopher/poet Sammy Hagar said it best:)

"You can analyze the situation; to me it's all just mental masturbation"

What kind of fun do you guys get from this rubber band thing? I don't get it. :ill:

Option One:
Stare at a phosphorescent screen for hours to be able to buy $20,000,000 car.

Option Two:
Walk the kids, feed the dog, do your laundry, kiss your wife, make a sandwich, eat a sandwich, go to work, sleep, wake up, buy $20,000,000 car.

Capiche?

I assume you mean with the analog stick you use to seer rubber banded forwards? I may have to try this for other cars too. I play GT5 with the left stick pushed forwards, and roll it back and forth to steer keeping it against the forward edge of the controller, but it takes some effort to keep it pushed forwards, especially with sweaty hands. The band would keep it forwards and give me a nice realistic spring back to the neutral position while remaining pushed forwards. This sounds like all kinds of win. I'm trying it out tonight.

Lol. Thats all I have to say Kyrdan.
I bet you haven't even bronzed any of X1 events?

You asume that because he doesn't want to do Indy a million times himself?

Nothing to do with that. I just find it funny that he was recently talking about how all the dupe haters just suck at the game and can't earn the X1.
Reading his post I assume he can't even drive and he never actually got the X1 by himself if he can't even drive in an oval :indiff:

:eek::eek: No, no, no, your missing it completely. Read this thread.

Alright. I don't frequent the GT5 forum, but I suppose you have your reasons then. Cheers.

no no no, I think you didn't get what I was thinking....which I might have thought because I didn't get the original post, CONFUSION ABOUNDS :-D

I thought he had both sticks rubber banded forwards (instead of the pocketknife solution shown in the post), which sounds like it might make how I steer with the DS3 more comfortable, and allow for smoother turns, since I wouldn't have to keep the stick forwards using my finger, as I do now.

I could have come up with that on my own or something, I should go back and read the original post.

Grinding aside and speaking of controlling the X2010 alone. Seems like you got the rubber band down. You have to change the controller sensitivity. Turning it down really helps.

Wait your keeping the left stick pushed all the way forward while normally playing. I am missing something.

nope, not missing anything.

It's hard to describe, but give it a try. I use the right analog stick for gas/brakes and left analog stick for steering, so the forward/backwards movement on the left stick does nothing. I find it easier to make smooth turns if I push the left stick all the way forwards, so instead of bending it back and fourth, I'm rolling it back and fourth against the plastic bezel. It kind of mimics the movement of using a steering wheel with one hand, or in this case, a really tiny wheel with my thumb. Because the stick is pressed up against the plastic it has a bit more resistance and it's easier to keep it steady for long gradual turns.

My thought, is that the rubber band will make it so I don't have to put effort into pushing the stick forwards, which can be awkward sometimes.

Am I just totally weird controlling racers on a DS3.

Interesting, I have a wheel but I do like to use the controller with the X1 sometimes I will give it a try. 👍

Edit: I have no idea how you drive like this.
