Ok, heres the deal. With an extra 50hp on a heavier car, it can actually almost pull faster times than a lower hp car with full suspension tune:

BOth 99 mustang GTs. Both ran on grand valley speedway for a warmup lap, then a serious lap.(2 in total).

TUNED car: race muffler(221hp), full race/street suspension setup(soft spring rate, heavy anti sway bar), FULL weight reduction (wow, near 50 grand of mods here..)
Best of 2 laps: 2:11.675

Full *stock* GT spec car: Comp chip, porting, balancing(all netting up a nifty 259hp to match the ACTUAL real HP figures... with 334 lb ft torque)
Best of 2 laps: 2:13.356

I kno, this is useless. But just wanted to say, putting on more HP will make a car faster, and will cost you less, than tricking out the suspension and losing some fat.

But don't you miss the satisfaction of going faster without touching the engine? :)

My absolutely favourite car in GT2, my prized '97 Camaro SS, has absolutely no engine modifications whatsoever, yet pulls in 12.6 quarter mile runs and 0-60 times around 4.1 seconds, AND handles very well. 👍

What kind of tires are you using on each car??

i find that a full susp set up will beat a car with an extra 50hp. and you also throw in weight reduction, that will really make the difference.

and yea, the fully setup car wit less hp did beat the higher hp car, but only by a few fractions of a second... and HP is cheaper, and make it sound better, so i definately would go with power!

they have 207hp stock..... anyways, on autumn ring the 221hp fully tuned stang beat the 260hp stock stang by about 2-3 seconds, very amazing!

Why not do both, power and weight. That way you get the suspension feel of the car, the power to go places and Race Mod it for the perfect looks!!!
