SIM Chassis Selection Help

Hiya,

I am just about to move over from a PS4 controller to a sim cockpit including fanatec wheel and petals. I have read the sticky on cockpits but i am a bit lost on what is considered good. I have been on amazon etc but still do not know what is good. Ideally i do not want a massive heavy bulky rig sat in my spare room .My budget is up-to £500. I want to use the 3 pedals so i guess a rig with a centre pillar is not good. Could you offer any solutions what people like and they are using.

I kinda like the size of the below playseat evolution but reviews say it wongs and bends when braking hard etc so not an good option:

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks,

I've just upgraded from the PlayStation Evolution. The centre bar got in the way for left foot braking on a 3 pedal set. I modified the plate so I could move them further to the left. There is also quite a bit flex in the plate under heavy braking.

I'm lucky enough to have a "Mancave" so space isn't a problem. I've recently upgraded to an aluminium extrusion rig and in all honesty it doesn't take up any extra room but is quite a weight.

As you can see they take up the same amount of space, but there is a world of difference. Amazingly it came in at under £400.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

So i am guessing Nelsons helmets in the background.

1) Senna
2) Mansell
3) Hill
4) Prost

I don't know the others. Was i close?

Thanks,

Yeah, spot on. There's also Andretti, a Lotus inspired Senna design and a retro McQueen inspired Gulf racing on the wall.
I've also done Hunt and Lauda ones out of shot.

These two 8020 rigs are very similar in design and price. Both offer plenty of adjustment. They are plenty rigid enough for direct drive bases if you decide to go there later on. The Sim-Lab version is a little bit narrower if space is an issue. The downside is that they don't come with a seat, although you can get one for around $150 or just snag one from a scrapyard for even less.

I got his seat for my GT-1 EVO and it is perfect:

I'm looking at purchasing the K2R rig, does anyone have experience with one of these?

Also looking for seat recommendations for this rig, needs to be comfortable

I ended up ordering the K2-R rig now I am looking for reccomendations for a seat.

Preferably I am looking for one where I will not have to drill any mounting holes.

What's out there guys?

Thanks

A used or new car seat on eBay is an option - the K2-R will take standard car seat rails. Seats from hot hatches like Civic Type R etc look racy and go nice with a typical rig setup.

I was just looking at the GT Omega RS6, it comes with seat sliders and sounds like it is comfortable. A very affordable price as well.

Hopefully it would also fit without having to drill anymore holes. Only ordered the K2-R rig today. It does say it will fit most seats, hopefully this one will fit without having to make modifications.

I'm sure that seat will fit on the rig without modifying anything. You may need to make a Lowes/Home Depot run for some screws/nuts though
