Simbin Race series

I play it from time to time, it's great fun. I recommend most of the DLC, GTR Evo is essential as it adds the Nürburgring, the GT Power pack adds the Zonda R, the Retro pack adds an awesome hill climb course and the cars are great too and Race On has the International Formula Master which are really fun to drive, and I'm not really a fan of Formula cars. In short, Race Injection at 50% off is a great deal (it includes every DLC ever released for Race 07 but nothing more so if you already have Race 07 and some DLC, don't buy Injection).

Ah, Race Injection is 50% off as well, I'll buy that I think as I only have Race 07 and GTR EVO, none of the expansions. Actually I guess I won't, Steam won't let me buy it as I already bought Race 07. Even though I didn't buy it from Steam, it's a retail DVD I added there. Hmmmmph.

Argh this is confusing. I've never bought anything for these games from Steam. I've got a retail DVD copy of Race On and GTR Evo. Race On has Race 07 and STCC the game, GTR Evo has Race 07 again.

So I'm "missing" STCC The Game 2, Formula RaceRoom, GT Power Expansion, Retro Pack, WTCC 2010 Pack which are all in Injection for £8.24. If I buy them separately it'll be £9.46. Annoying.

Lol. This series is just a jungle now. Different games with similar names and overlapping in content and some stuff is pure add-ons and there are a bunch of them too. And then come the mods, tracks and skins to install. When someone asks me "what game?" I just become like aaaeeuuhhh yeahhh kinda Race On that is including this Race 07 and Race the WTCC game and such and then the add-on for... and then I lose them. What kind of name is "Race" anyway? Try google for that. It's a jungle now I tell ya lol

Great game though. "Which one?" Euuuuuhhhh...

Indeed, it's quite a mess, like trying to explain the complete Porsche 911 line-up. Hopefully GTR3 and the expansions that are sure to follow don't get as bad.

Wow, I didn't know you couldn't buy Injection if you had any of the Race 07 content, that's crazy. It is bloody confusing, you got that right... I'm trying to write a nice informative post but it's impossible because every big pack (ike STCC the Game) includes the base Race 07 content in the description.

I thought I was on to something with Wikipedia but that's just as confusing. My personal recommendation for the big expansions:
- GTR Evo is essential, the cars are great but I don't think I need to say any more than 'Nürburging'...

- STCC The Game appears to only add the 2008 STCC cars and the Camaro Cup car and seven Swedish circuits, so that really depends on your taste. I don't have it (yet, might pick it up today) so I can't really say more.

- STCC The Game 2 again adds Swedish tracks plus one Danish one, the 2010 STCC season cars, Chevrolet Camaro Gen4 and Gen5 but also the Volvo 240 Turbo Gr.A, 850 BTCC and S40 BTCC. I have no idea what it costs at the moment but I might get this too, the STCC games are the only two add ons I don't have so far.

- Race On is good enough but by no means essential, the International Formula Master is a great car but apart from that it's some American track and street muscle cars and two American circuits, one of which is Laguna Seca though and I love Laguna Seca.

- GT Power adds the Zonda R, Matech GT-1 (in other words, a Ford GT GT1) and BMW M3 GT2, also adds Mid Ohio and Chayka. I love the Zonda R so it was a must buy for me.

- Retro adds an awesome hill climb course which I love and:
1968 Volvo Amazon
1968 Mini Cooper S
1970 Chevrolet Camaro
1971 BMW 2002
1971 Opel Commodore GS 3001
1972 Volvo P1800 ES
1973 BMW 3.0 CSL
1974 Chevrolet Corvette
Which is a lot of awesome car, but they're all basically from GT Legends.

TL, DR: If you can't get Injection, the only really essential thing is GTR Evo. GT Power if you like fast cars, Retro if you like classic cars, Race On if you like American cars and STCC The Game 1 and/or 2 if you like STCC or LOVE the 240 Turbo Gr.A or 850 BTCC.

Edit: At £1.24 for STCC and £2.99 for STCC 2, I'm going to buy both. Totally forgot about WTCC 2010 but it doesn't add enough for £2.99, so I'm going to leave that.

Yeah it's mad, I remember having to do an hour of research when I first got my gaming PC to work out what to buy.

On Steam it just says 'You already own this' when trying to buy Injection, I sent an email to them to see if they can sort it out, remove Race 07 from my account or something. Like I say I never even bought it from Steam in the first place but it gets added to it when you install the online version. Same for GTR Evo IIRC.

Good to see there are people here into these series. I myself have all except for WTCC 2010 and Injection. Also there are lots of great mods out for this series.

If there are any particular mods you are looking for and can't find let me know here and quite
possibly I may have it. I have a ridiculous amount of add on mods installed on Race.

Do you have any mods featuring classic (or indeed modern) Japanese racing (or drift) cars? I have the AE86 Club mod (in both Race 07 and rFactor) but apart from that I'm sorely lacking things like an R30, KPGC10, any SuperGT, Super Taikyu and so on... I'd also like Japanese circuits and point-to-point hillclimb courses but I've already scoured nogripracing.com's download section. I'm kind of hoping from your Japanese-sounding screen name you might be able to help point me in the right direction!

I got into it as my first step into serious sim-racing. I bought Race07+GTR Evo+Race Injection, and for the sake of completitionsm I'm getting STCC and Race On now that Steam has that sale going on.

I definitely reccomend this game. For being old, the graphics are decent enough and the quality of the content is top notch. Furthermore, the value for money is great.

Go SimBin!

Wow, thanks! Does it matter than the SuperGT's parts are different versions? The first is V1.1 and the other two are 1.0. Also how come the 2000GT-R and 240Z are .txt files? Thank you very much all the same!

No the versions don't matter and as for the .txt they unzip fine and work like 7zip and rar files.

Well it took me a while to work it out (had to change the .txt to .7z as neither IZArc nor WinRAR knew it was an archive) but I got the GT-R installed, it's a little disconcerting that the engine sound disappears near the fuel cut but apart from that and the lack of side mirrors it's great fun. In the end I had to adjust the seat position upwards and backwards so I could see the whole of the rear view mirror which isn't a big deal really. Thanks again!

Maybe it's worth posting in case others aren't aware but there's a great mod database at www.nogripracing.com, but as has just been proven it's not definitive and there's a lot more out there. I'd recommend having a look through if you haven't already, there's some good stuff.

Sorry, to be honest i didn't know it had those issues, i haven't driven the car yet myself but thought i'd pass it along.

I'm a member of No Grip Racing, have been since 2010 it is a great site. I got most of my mods for Race, GTR2, rFactor and GTL there. I'm just not very active there but i go as Hirowazu there.

All my spare time is spent over at Racedepartment, that is my home away from home lol!
I do some moderating on the Off Topic Discussions threads.

No no, not at all, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. The 240ZG is a very high quality mod and it drives pretty much as you'd expect it to, but unfortunately I decided to go to bed before I got into installing the SuperGT mod.

Steam got back to me and said they can remove Race 07 from my account so I can buy Injection. I think they'll have to remove Race On as well though, and some of that content isn't in Injection. Ah well, I don't intend to race online anyway so I should be able to install that on it's own offline if I want. I just want to buy all the expansion packs in one go with Injection.

Still really confusing, Injection should really have been a complete package of everything.

It also doesn't contain GTR Evo, I had no idea. Frankly you might be better off buying the GT Power and Retro expansions separately at £1.74 each and maybe STCC The Game 2 which is £2.99, but I went for quite a long time without that and didn't feel like I was missing anything important. The Formula RaceRoom add-on is free so that just leaves WTCC 2010 which doesn't look like good value to me (but then for the difference in price between GT Power, Retro and STCC 2 separately (£6.47) and Race Injection (£8.24) it might be good enough value, but for the price it is alone (£2.99) it's not really), and Race 07 which you already have. Did you say you have GTR Evo?

This just gets more and more confusing...

Yes, I have a boxed version of GTR Evo. But that also comes with Race 07 again. They said that the retail CD key I used to activate Race 07 on steam won't be able to be used again but I don't remember if I installed Race 07 with GTR Evo or with Race on.

In my Steam I've got GTR Evo, Race 07, Race On and STCC the game all listed seperately so christ knows what will happen when they remove Race 07 and I buy Injection.

Just bought Race ON and STCC on Steam. Now I have, I think, all the content that SimBin has released for Race 07. To be honest, I got to the point where I didn't frankly need those two expansions, much in the same way I didn't need to buy the DLC for GT5, but I did it as a way of supporting a developer whose work I quite like. Thing is, PD doesn't get my money anymore. SimBin does! Roll on GTR3!!!

I'm still on the shelf as to whether I should buy this, I don't have any version of this, though I own GTR 2, its around £8 for the race injection on steam but that doesn't include GTR Evo, i'm assuming if I buy Evo it will add on to the Injection title?

Basically, what you should do to get all Race 07 content is this:

Buy Race Injection.
Buy GTR Evo.
Buy STCC.
Buy Race On.

Make sure when you're buying Race Injection that you buy the bundle that contains Race 07 (I'm not sure if it comes this way, I think that when I bought it Race 07 wasn't included), otherwse you'll only be buying the add-on content without having the base title. In case it doesn't contain Race 07, buy the Race On bundle since it contains Race 07+STCC+Race On for the price of STCC+Race On. GTR Evo is also an add-n I believe, although it can be launched in Steam as if it was a stand alone title. STCC, Race On, GTR EVO, and Race 07 all have different intros, menu music and colour schemes, but they're the same game. In the lower portion of the main menu it'll say all the SimBin content you have installed.

EDIT: I just checked on Steam and the version they sale of Race Injection does contain Race 07, so you'll be good to go with Race Injection and GTR Evo. If you want to go the extra mile and get ALL SimBin content, then, in addition to Injection and EVO, buy STCC and Race on as separate Add-Ons. Now is the time, Steam is nuts!!!

EDIT 2: Just checked again  and GTR Evo DOES need Race 07. At least the GTR Evo version that I see on my Steam client. So, as I said, Race Injection and then GTR Evo.

Pretty much what CarBastard said. If you don't want to buy all of it at once I suggest Race Injection and GTR Evo for now because that's a whole heap of stuff for just over £11 (I think). I know I've said this possibly several times in this thread but GTR Evo is an absolute must.

Oh and I was going to say earlier on, the bonus cars in STCC 2 are great fun, I only tried the 850 (at Laguna Seca) and 240 Turbo (on the Hill Climb) but they're great.

GTR Evo= Nordschleife nuff said! 👍

Oh yeah and the WTCC Extreme series.

It's by far the best one. The Nordschleife + a ton of horsepower to play there with. The WTCC Extreme cars rock, they have around 600 HP. DBR9, C6R, etc. It even comes with DA BEAST, namely the Koenigsegg CCX which is really challenging to drive with road tires and those 800 something HP. Really hardcore. This+GT Power expansion will give you plenty of high powered thrills.
