hi first time on this forum. i am a noob in the game (since i dont even have a driving licience yet) i do have passion for the game , and i bought a g25 wheel to play the game.

i was viewing the thread on the posting youtube vids (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=99216&page=2)

and i saw this very good player (rocket punch) doing the this technique. i had immediately done some research and found out how it helps the car by rasing the rpm. But the point is that as a game does this effect the performance of the car in the game. (please mention even if its very slight) because i will be practicing even if it makes the slightest difference to improving my time.

Final question does drifting improve your time (when up against opponents, casue in gthd it definately improved my time) or is it just an show off(no offence)

about my psn i will post it when i feel that i am more confident(dont wanna embarass myself)

sry if these questions are mentioned in other treads... i have tried my best to find the answers in other threads...

in Real life and on games like GTR GTR2 Heel Toe stops the car spinning out when down shifting and the sudden burst of RPM causes the tires to spin... I can't say that i have noticed this on GT5 the car rarely spins on the down shifts so i would say forget about that and concentrate on driving...

Drifting is a way of showing off .. its slower then driving properly it just looks really cool !!

I don't have GT5P yet, so I can't tell if they actually code the clutch properly. In PC race sims like rFactor, H&T is essential in mods like 79'GP or Caterham and when racing with autoclutch/TC/aids off.

I am not going to go into the topic of drifting. Just go to your television and watch a road, any road race may it be F1/WTCC/LeMans/BTCC/DTM and see which one of those drivers are drifting all over the circuit to "go fast". Only in off road racing and on low adhesion road conditions, snow/gravel, like in WRC will you see drifting being used in a "time base" racing, and they mainly do it to carry momentum thru corners.

Going fast is not about doing, it is more about not over doing. Slow is smooth; Smooth is fast.

i see thank you for your replies. it seems that gtprologue does not have the right clutch codings to make the heel and toe a required technique.
i suppose that PD will work to make sure that it will be included in GT5 ... better to start learning now.

-> Unlike in RL, its quite hard on the G25. I think because; I have a different method of heel-toeing. I use my heel as a pivot, and my toe to brake and blip on the gas when downshifting. I tried it on TD:U at Fry's; but its maybe my seating position over there sucks. :indiff:

In real life I have spun out because of not toe hell DS.
Basically what is does in real life is: I allows you to go into a lower gear by matching the RPMs in efforst to not upset the balance or weight transfer of the car : being smooth and letting the suspension and brakes do the work.

do you mind posting a video of how you do it? cause i have been tring today in vain. anything helps...
^ I really do hope I could, but the fact is; I don't have a vid-cam to show you the demo unfortunately. :indiff:
