Since GT6 has a New Tire Model, Will the Tire Wear Be Fixed?

I sure hope so. I know it has been a complaint from the start of GT5. Kaz has not even mentioned the tire wear at all. Time will tell.

Hope PD got it right this time with the tire wear.

You mean how on anything that's not a racing slick wear shouldn't even be a problem? Even semi-slicks last for several race weekends, the only thing you have to contend with is heat.

Even most slicks last at least an hour, unless you're on F1 Pirelli style cheddar. Again, heat is largely what you're managing.

Full on drifting I will admit chews tyres, but that's a slightly different thing. And the accelerated wear in that situation is largely caused by...high temperatures for extended periods of time.

I'd care less about them getting the wear right, because frankly zero wear is pretty close in most situations that you come across in a game like GT. Getting heat modelling right is critical, however.

Not sure what the point is of asking a question that nobody knows the to answer to then saying "time will tell" which is basically all anyone can say.

I am hoping a new tire gauge system will be in effect. Other games actually show you where the tire is wearing. Inside, outside, or middle. GT does not show you at all. You just see the entire tire gauge getting red. So you have no idea if you have too much or not enough camber for example.

I hope so too. I was very surprised when I played GT5. One of the things I enjoyed about GT4 was tire strategy sometimes it could be tricky finding a tire that would give you the lap time you needed without having to pit to often. Especially so if you were trying to get that 200 A Spec award on the race.

I remember I ran the 90 lap Laguna Seca event and very carefully planned my tire changes in the pit stops but did not account for the chassis getting a bit warped during the race and found myself in second place by about 30 seconds with 16 laps to go when my right front tire turned orange and my lap time starting dropping off and the 1st place car was pulling away a little. Out of desperation I went into the pits and threw on a set of super softs and drove the wheels off it the last few laps making up just over a minute and coming into the last corner I had the 1st place car in my sights. I could see I was not going to over take him before the finish line so I decided to try and punt him in the last corner. I missed :( caught a little sand and finished about 3 seconds behind.

That was actually a lot of fun which was surprising for a 90 lap race but I was really on the edge of my seat giving it all I had and came up just short due to one bad tire change decision during the race. Naturally I started the race again and this time finished first but the second place car was still on the lead lap and only about 30 seconds behind at the end so was still a good race and a lot of fun.

Sadly on GT5 that kind of thing just did not happen.
