You mean how on anything that's not a racing slick wear shouldn't even be a problem? Even semi-slicks last for several race weekends, the only thing you have to contend with is heat.
Even most slicks last at least an hour, unless you're on F1 Pirelli style cheddar. Again, heat is largely what you're managing.
Full on drifting I will admit chews tyres, but that's a slightly different thing. And the accelerated wear in that situation is largely caused by...high temperatures for extended periods of time.
I'd care less about them getting the wear right, because frankly zero wear is pretty close in most situations that you come across in a game like GT. Getting heat modelling right is critical, however.
