Actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has died aged 89, his family has announced.
He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and the Spy Who Loved Me.
Sir Roger's family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer".

Not my favourite Bond but he certainly and definitely made the role his own. RIP :(
He was my favourite Bond - by a mile. :(

Sad to hear of his passing. It took me a long time to realise that 'Live And Let Die' and 'The Man With The Golden Gun' are not exactly cinematic masterpieces, but I don't think they would have worked at all without Roger Moore's unique style and his delivery of some pretty terrible jokes that most other actors would not have been able to make funny.

RIP Sir Roger Moore

I was just notified by my news app that Sir Roger Moore has passed away following "a short but brave battle with cancer."

I checked BBC news to see if it was true and sadly it was. :(:(

He was 89 years old and had quite the movie life especially as James Bond among other great movie and TV roles.

Heck, Moonraker was my introduction to the world of 007 and spy thrillers.

R.I.P Sir Roger Moore :nervous:

I just posted a thread on this and I'm gutted by his passing, He was one of the greats of the world of spy thrillers. :nervous:

As I mentioned in my thread, Moonraker was my introduction to the world of 007 and James Bond, I might just go and find somewhere to watch it again just to reminisce about it all.

R.I.P Sir Roger Moore :(

This indeed, also enjoyed watching him in The Saint.

RIP

Bit of a British institution... though he was my least favorite Bond, he did so much more than that.

RIP

Favourite Bond but hated his politics.

I agree, had a lot to say about the UK yet was a tax exile for most of his life.

Anywho it's a shame that another film icon has passed away, will remember is cheezy Bond escapades especially his run in's with the Sheriff as @Wiegert posted.

Moonraker

I always liked Roger Moore, I grew up with A View To a Kill, Octopussy and For Your Eye Only, which I consider all three to be classic bond films. Sean Connery is arguably my favorite Bond but Roger Moore is a photo-finish 2nd. Roger Moore added more nuances to the role and the character of Bond. In many ways Moore's Bond character was more interesting than Connery's portrayal. He didn't just get handed the baton and tread water, you have to respect the new things he brought to the table. He was the evolution of Ian Flemming's character that the series needed at that time. He also made more Bond films than any of the other Bonds, so he is definitely the most prolific Bond, there is also that.

RIP Sir Roger Moore, I enjoyed watching your films as a young lad, you will be missed.

One of my favorite Bond movies particularly due to this scene and the lines delivered. Made me seen Bond in a cool light that I didn't always get with Brosnan growing up. Sad news RIP Sir Moore.

Back in the days when car stunts were 100% real....no green screen there...awesome stunt. Forza Horizon 3 could use some twist ramps like those lol. The Man With The Golden Gun was another great Roger Moore film too.
