hi.

I just drove the Nürburgring for the first time in GT sport, with the Gr 3 bMW M3.
It felt Waaay too narrow. I thought Maybe it's the cockpit view... Looked from outside the car.. and seriously?? The M3 looks HUGE on the track!!?? Is this An error on the M3 size or is the track just too smalle???

I've been to the ring IRL and know that on the first part of the track you can easily fit 3 Cars side by side on the track.

Looking at the M3 now, it can hardly fit twice!

Am I right or is this a glitch in my Brain??

Ring was laser scanned. The only possibility is that car is oversized. But do you really think PD would make such an elementary mistake? I dont think so.

It's all correct. GT3 cars (~2 metres width) are much wider than normal cars.
This.

Normal road cars (I doubt you were driving a real racing car on the Ring?) are way narrower than you think.

The E92 M3 in real life is only 180 cm. wide for example. And the old BMW 3-class E46 just 174 cm. We are used to seeing racing cars with wide aero-parts in the game, maybe that's why we have this illusion.

Wait, an M3 or an M6?

It's probably not the width of the virtual or real, car or track. It's the false sense of narrowness that PD's exaggerated FOV gives, making the track look way narrower than it really is. If you want to check it, park your car on the track adjacent to the edge, take a photo from above and eyeball how many car widths the track is. I'm sure you'll find it quite accurate. BTW, the Ring is around 8-9 metres wide in most sections.

Hey, thanks. Really did not think about this... Well I've learned something today lol.

Yeah, I think it's a combination of What you said, and What macbaby said... The fov in the car made it look really narrow. Like the car almost doesn't fit.. LOL
