Anyone else notice that despite your best tuning efforts you can't get car A to corner like car B?

I love the 80's cars but in my 450pp races they just can't hold turns the way newer cars can. I've tried soft/hard suspensions, high/low camber, but some cars just don't stick to the road like others. I'm wondering if OEM tire size plays a factor.

Yes, it plays a factor.
It's the reason why many underpowered cars with skinny tires can't properly climb steep hills. It's not due to lack of power, but lack of traction.
By the way, installing aftermarket rims (on Premium cars) or fitting Sport or Racing tires makes tires somewhat visibly wider than stock in GT5.

I notice the aftermarket rim difference. Do you think it changes grip? I haven't run a stock vs. aftermarket comparison but it might be something to try if you need to squeeze extra speed out of a premium car.

unfortunately, the cars I am having trouble with are all standard models. For example, if you reduce the weight of an '86 MR2 so it is equal to an Elise. then configure both for the same PP, the Elise will still run circles around the MR2.
