To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the vRS performance brand, the Škoda UK factory team and journalist/racing driver Richard Meaden journeyed to the Bonneville Salt Flats to take a vRS model to 200mph. Entered in the Southern California Timing Association's G/PS class (for modified, forced induction production cars), the Octavia vRS went nearly 30mph faster than targeted; it set an averaged speed of 227.080mph, raising the G/PS record from 216mph.
A 600bhp supercharged 2.0-litre engine and a streamlined exterior allow it to reach its record-breaking top speed.
