You have to rework the exhaust I believe. You need to make it emissions legal for were ever you live.

But what they don't say is how much its going to cost to ship a car from Japan to the US. I'm willing to bet its a heafty sum.

"Price includes shipping to Oakland port, CA.", at least on the second one.

I have no idea what goes into getting a car from another country registered for use in the United States. I get the impression that it isn't very easy to do.

Anyone other than those two companies who claims they can legalize it is lying.

Actually only MotoRex is able to comply it. RBMotoring get their cars done by MotoRex.

I haven't even bothered to look at them as what ever the purchasing price is, add another $15-$20K for MotoRex to comply it.
What needs to be done is a heck of a lot more than simply the exhaust and emissions. Don't bother asking me as Sean Morris never told me the entire extent that is required, and doubt they would tell you either.
Are they over priced? I truely believe so. Can it be done a lot cheaper? Heck yes but who is going to do it, when you don't know what needs to be done. Other companies have tried and no one has been able to comply one yet.

Even with $15-30K to make the car compliant with US standards, you still get out at $26-41K which is about half of what Motorex charges for an R34. Now if you buy an R32 from MotoRex, you'll very likely come out ahead, or even on the deal with less hassle. (The R32 is the best looking of the bunch anyhow. )

All gasoline-powered vehicles registered in Massachusetts are required to pass yearly vehicle inspection and bi-yearly emissions tests. No exceptions.

These are pretty much the average prices I got online for different places for importing:

4000-5000$ Private shipping crate (the big steel cargo boxes) prices depends on the demsions of the car your shipping.

2000-3000$ For roll on, roll off shipping. (They drive your car on the ship, strap it down, then drive it off and park it somewhere when it gets here.)

And yeah, MotoRex is the only ones that are allowed to legalize Skylines. Anyone hear that roomer about them not being allowed to ship anymore R34's into the country? I heard it from a guy that owns a skyline on cardomain.com

MiXx ask youself this. Why wouldn't they? The problem with most forums 90% of the people on them know sweet f all about skylines to start with they only think they do, and also what all is concerned about them. They either guess or go off other mis-guided information they've read else where. Whiile I don't know what is required to make them "legal" in the states, I do know for fact there is only one place you can go to get it done.

Well the guy I got it from I can trust, and Ive heard it from more than just one place.

I've flicked Sean an email and his reply was what I thought. The guy who told you this is a tosser, and has no idea what he is talking about, sorry. In California according to MotoRex cars 2 years old or newer have issues of being sold in only that state, but since the R34 was produced from 1999 onwards it isn't an issue.

An update though on the pricing.

1990-1994 R32 GT-R / GT-S $16,000
1995 R33 GT-R / GT-S $17,000
1996-1998 R33 GT-R/ GT-S $25,000
1999-2002 R34 GT-R $25,000

Well the thing is, he owns a R34. And its in a couple of magazines (its the blue skyline in the BFGoodrich tires add in Super Street and other mags). He was the one that told me this because I was asking around to see the pricing on a R34.

Damn, converisons went down.....used to be pretty high up there on the money scale......

I am sure if that were the case though MotoRex would have posted someting up on thier site, and Sean formerlly of MotoRex and now co-owner of RBMotoring would know and want others to know.
