I did the first two with out much problem, the concept is easy to grasp.

My problem is the 3rd one i believe, with the skyline GT-R. How am i supposed to bridge the huge gap between the pack of cars and the leader?

My only idea has been to draft and swoop infront of the group, let them draft and pass me, and so forth, to make up the gap quick on the first two laps, then just punch it and try to catch him on the 3rd.

Can anyone tell me or suggest how i should try to beat this?

That's about it. I posted in another thread on the topic: The summary goes like this....The computer cars won't draft you or go over a certain speed in the corners. You need to draft them in the corners and let them draft you in the straights. Drive with your rearview mirror, don't let any cars run into you from behind, and let all cars pass you before you start drafting them.

I had huge problems with this test and tried out some of the tips in the threads.
I eventually passed it by figuring out a method that seems to work every time.
Slipstream them and past them all going into the first bend. Your speed will be about 274kph, release the X button and let the speed drop to 270 . now press the X button again and keep it pressed . Your speed will drop to about 265 kph as you exit the bend. BTw I keep the car on the outer yellow line. As you are on the straight keep looking in your mirror , one of even two cars will pass you a little b4 you get to the bend .slipstream them and pass them going into the bend.Do this twice each lap. you will see the first skyline ahead at the first bend of the 2nd lap. You will start to get closer each time you slipstream. B4 you go into the last bend of the last lap you will be able to slipstream the lead skyline and slingshot past it into the lead and past the finish.
its easy when you know how

Basically, follow the guys until you slip past them in the turn. Dont let off the gas, no matter what, and as soon as you pass get up high on the track (just inside the yellow line). You MUST stay there whenever you make your passes. (this is of course after you drive around the guys). This allows the guys behind you to get the best draft on you bc its where they always line up.

If you are running AT, as soon as you hit 165 feather the accelerator on/off/on/off/on so it downshifts without losing speed. (6th gear cant stay at 165 ive found, but 5th gear can).

If you make sure to stay just inside the yellow line, the first car behind you will draft off of you. As soon as he gets right on your ass, drive (left) down low to get out of his way (sometimes other guys will come up fast too). If they can pass you before youre within (give or take 150-200m) of the turn, let them pass as well.

Otherwise, starting drafting the guy(s) ahead of you and slingshot by them right as you get to the turn. If you do it right, youll be passing them in with a speed of about 171-173. As soon as you get by, make your way back to the yellow line and stay there. Get back into 5th gear when your car hits 165. They will eventually pass you on the straight, then draft them back.

You'll should notice that by the end of the 2nd turn on lap 2 youll see the guy ahead of you. Don't panic, youve still got pretty much to catch up, but bear in mind these laps are long. Do this again down the front stretch, and stay high in the turn. keep your line, the guys will pass you on the back straight.

Slingshot passed them, and then get low! Stay low until you are sure you can slipstream the lead car, he should be in reach by about the time your 2/3 of the way through the turn if you did all of this right. As soon as your in reach, go up the track and get behind him, slipstream by him, and youve completed mission 23!

Note: I took me 3 tries using this specific strategy. The first time I lost by 1.6 sec. the second time by .86- seconds. The third time I won by .2 sec. Just keep doing it, youll eventually get the jist of how to let them pass and pass them back.

The most important part is that you must not ket off the gas to let them catch up! (you can to downshift in AT). They must be able to pass you halfway through the straight and then you must pass them back at the turn with a speed of at least 171/2/3/4... much faster than this and you may have to slow down to let them pass... good luck. If you still cant get it, PM me and ill try to be more specific to figure what ure doing wrong.

Ok, jeez, somebody please explain to me what I'm doing wrong here. I've been trying to follow the instructions that have been provided here all morning, but the AI GT-Rs aren't co-operating.

Here's how it goes down :

At the beginning of the race I take a run up at the cars in front of me. Per Rockhounds very detailed instructions I make the pass as soon as I can, which results in me sliding past the lead pack car at 174mph on the inside at right about the midpoint of the first turn. I immediately plant my right front tire on the outer yellow line and keep it there. As I exit the turn I'm at just about 165 or 166 and downshift into fifth gear.

Here's the problem : They NEVER CATCH UP. If I don't let off the gas, the lead pack car doesn't pass me before I hit the next turn. I'm guessing that indicates a problem, so how am I supposed to be doing this so that they catch up without me slowing down? I'm staying right on the yellow line, I'm not running past them at over 174. Am I passing too early in the turn? Someone help me out here.

this frustrated me as well i kicked it down to about 159-160 once i hit about 3/4 of the way through the tunr then they pass easily, maybe i jsut got lucky on 3 out of the 6 slingshots i had 2-3 cars pass me and was able to get up to around 283 kph on the straights

Ahh, finally got it.

You know you're doing it right if you're making your pass at about 172mph in the first third of each turn, and they should be catching you about 2/3 of the way down each straight. If your first lap looks like that, you'll catch up. When I did it, I didn't make any of my passes except the last one at higher than 171, and I still wound up passing the lead car about 2/3 of the way through the last corner, so you really shouldn't be trying for anything more than 172, I think, or you're risking the AI GT-Rs falling too far behind to pass you on the next straight.

my advice is this when ur going to get behind the second place car dont let the car get into 6th gear cuz when ur speed decrease it's still going to stay in 6th gear but its going to pick up way slower than if it was in 5th. So when u star to get behind the first place car it will pick up faster and then u will beat the race. It took me a while to beat that race.

stay with your right tire on the outside yellow line at all times. the cars will always draft you from this position.

I disagree what people are saying about 5th and 6th gear. I failed about 6-8 times staying in 5th the entire race, then the first time I stayed in 6th the entire race I won easily.

Edit
This thread should be locked as there are already 2 mission hall threads.

I beat this easily the first time. You don't need long complicated instructions. Just pass the cars on the turns and stay directly infront of them on straights (use your mirror or look behind) until right when they're going to pass you and get out of the way and let as many of them pass you as you can until the corner comes. You basically just let them pull you around the turns and you pull them down the straights, you should pass the yellow car on the last turn.

the key is not to pass too fast going into the first corner. Pass at 172mph. even though you can pass faster, pull aside and pass at that speed. then listen to everyone else's advice and practice!

...a lot of useful stuff...

Thanks for the advices, Rockhound18. With your method, it took me just one (more) try. At the end of the race I was 2 seconds plus ahead of the yellow Skyline.

Easy as a piece of cake.
