SLR Mclaren vs Cadillac Cien.

I was wondering if the pros here could give me a bit of a hand, I challenged a friend to a race on trial mountain over 12 laps. I am using the SLR Mclaren 03 and he will be using the Cadillac Cien 02.

I have used Ducks guide to tune the Mclaren and it has been very helpful, the car feels very good. My friend doesnt really know how to tune so apart from buying all the upgrades he wont do any modifications and i know he likes to use the supercharger over the NA setup option.

Basically i would like to know if you guys could recommend any special modifications to the Mclaren for the Trial mountain circuit, and do you think i have a chance of beating him!?! I know his car is lighter and has more HP than mine, and we are about as good as each other when it comes to driving ability so im getting a bit nervous as i went and put $100 on the outcome! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. (Note - This does not include advice along the lines of "Haha youre going to lose", i need encouragement people!)

I don't know.. I drove the SLR in stock form, and I wasn't all that impressed. Understeered alot.. The Cien was amazing though. Very balanced. What HP are you guys competing at? Whats his max, and whats your max? Also what weight are you guys coming in?

I think the SLR is a very nice car, its suspension is tuned to more understeer like other benz's, but if can adjust to its power and the way it turns, some really fast lap times are possible. Since you and your friend both drive cars that are supercharged, then on a twisty track like Trial Mt. its going to be a close battle.

Have a look at this:

Hope the comments in it will cheer you up :) Good Luck

With the HP, IIRC, the SLR is at 850~, with the Cien being 1000+.

Now, when I fully tuned the cars, the Cien got a laptime 2 whole seconds faster than the SLR. Now, even without tuning (but with full mods), the Cien will have an advantage over the SLR, especially over the acceleration and the handling.

How good is your friend? Is he better than you, worse than you, etc?

We are about as good as each other, with the same car we get very similar times. However, he doesnt tune his cars once he buys them, just buys the upgrades and leaves them like that. Do you think a tuned Mclaren would be able to keep up with a non tuned Cien?

Keep up? Most likely. It'll be real hard to take the lead and hold on to it, though.

At Trial Mountain, whoever starts in the lead is likely to stay there. The Cien is faster (although a thousand times more frustrating), but it will not necessarily win - if your skills are any margin better than your opponents, you will likely be able to win without much trouble. If I was driving against myself, by which I mean someone of equal skill, I don't know what I would rather be driving. The SLR will be more stable and probably more fun, but will it be faster?

This is the penalty you pay for making bets on something you haven't researched ;) but if you're happy with your setup, you should be able to win against a Cien that has been mindlessly maxed-out.
Good luck...

Thanks for the support guys! Duck i must say your settings are great, theyve made the SLR my favourite car, i dont want to drive anything else now! Ive managed to get my time on Trial mountain down into the 1:16s, im sure i can knock another 1 or 2 seconds off that with some more practice.
